I'm surprised we haven't seen any more 5090 performance leaks today now that there are cards in people's hands. I can't imagine it setting the world on fire, but I guess we'll see.

Only the reviewers have drivers. Also each driver has a thumbprint, so if leaked Nvidia would know, and not supply that reviewer with samples going forward.

Having the card in hand (thousands of retailers will already have them) is no use, as card is a paperweight without a driver to enable it.

Are people really getting grumpy because OCUK are trying to help out loyal forum members secure a 5080 on launch with a choice of one Sku?
FYI i been a forum member for 20 years, i want a 5090, OCUK are only doing this for 5080s, will i get upset about this, No, what will i do? I'll sit here and press F5 like everyone else, order the card i want and wait for it to arrive. It really is no big deal having to wait for a graphics card. These first world problems really are so piddley. I get proper grumpy when i see people whinging about not being able to get there latest toys

If you absorb the sentiment of most posts, I think rather it was due to confusion over why loyal forum members (who may, or may not support OC's financially) are seemingly treated differently (better?) than loyal customers (who obviously do help drive OC's financial success).

Loyal forum members are understandably defending the stance... after all, this 'secret offer' was posted in the community forum to a thread that only the most supportive of forum contributors can see it (winner winner chicken diner, as it may save some from the mercy of scalpers). Loyal customers on the other hand (who don't necessarily contribute to the forum's sense of community, but certainly support the business financially) are understandably wondering why this approach makes sound 'business sense'. Ultimately, it's OC's business, so OC's call... if people don't like it, I guess they can vote with their wallets.

I think the real question that I'm sure we'd all agree on, is just why are we here again?... Why do OC's (and most other retailers in fairness to OC) seemingly fail to try and do more to get these 'toys' in the hands of people who are genuinely passionate about owning them? This 'secret post' is a great example of what can be done with a little thought and consideration (kudos to them), but unfortunately it will only benefit a subset of people (who may, or may not have sound OC purchasing history).

...anyway, deffo don't be grumpy... life's too short to not let people express an opinion ;)

Offering this to long term and active forum members is a great thing and something they don't have to do. At least doing it this way, there is a 99% chance that they are not unknown bots robbing all the stock the second things go live.
