Oh yeah i was looking just at the pins just being a little discoloured, now i see ita melted connector from the rear , was fussed to the plug so couldn't see inside .... look at the melted plastic around the 3 inner pins on the right hand side
Three 12V lines on the right melted the plastic housing.what are we looking at ?
They made H++ spec for sockets, but the cable can still melt if either the single 12V rail on the FE got some quality issue or if the PSU is still only H+ spec. I think that's why it is recommended to buy a PCIE 5.1 spec PSU and use OEM PSU 12Vx6 cable, otherwise use the GPU cable splitting into 3x8 pin or 4x8 pin PCIe connectors.yep nothing new to me , old news

I ended up sorting it myself rather than RMA as i wanted to keep the card due to it being an extremely high bin 4090 , new connector fitted , new cable and was perfect ever sinceOh yeah i was looking just at the pins just being a little discoloured, now i see it![]()
yeah replaced with H+ as at the time H++ had just been announced. They made H++ spec for sockets, but the cable can still melt if either the single 12V rail on the FE got some quality issue or if the PSU is still only H+ spec. Msi 90 surprime air cool from other site update. 2nd in queue (from 6th on release day) estimated dispatch date 3rd-4th march. Absolutely **** poor.
Which is stupid because the GPUs come with x4 8 pin adapters anyway! That would make you think that would be ok even if you had the other newer options, which I for one don’t.They made H++ spec for sockets, but the cable can still melt if either the single 12V rail on the FE got some quality issue or if the PSU is still only H+ spec. Did you solder it yourself or get a repair shop ?I ended up sorting it myself rather than RMA as i wanted to keep the card due to it being an extremely high bin 4090 , new connector fitted , new cable and was perfect ever since![]()

Bargain . Buy 2Astral 5080 actually in stock then? £1799![]()
I mean the melting connector issue is nothing new to me considering my 4090 melted it's plug a good year and half ago , the fact the 5090 is still melting is no surprise to me as they are feeding the same about of power through a rubbish connector that's had a mild revision that clearly isn't working. The solution to this is the 90 series need 2 of these 12VHPWR/ 12v-2x6 connectors fitted to the card so the load can be easily balanced rather than trying to fit it all through one but as we only have cards with one it is what it is and will have to work with what we got .Sorry.what do you mean?
just people cancelling, my position only -1Update: My pre-order queue for the el cheapo ZOTAC 5090 SOLID went down from 391 to 377 (with another supplier that shall not be named). The pre-order price at the time I placed it was £2099
So despite that, why did you go ahead and grabbed a 5090?I mean the melting connector issue is nothing new to me considering my 4090 melted it's plug a good year and half ago , the fact the 5090 is still melting is no surprise to me as they are feeding the same about of power through a rubbish connector that's had a mild revision that clearly isn't working. Because i want the framesSo despite that, why did you go ahead and grabbed a 5090?
How was it esily sorted? you had to send your card all the way to germany if i am not mistaken who then had to mod it?Because i want the framesas I said the melting connector issue doesn't bother me considering its happened previously and was easily sorted

It was easily sorted by me taking it out the pc putting it in a box having DHL collect it from my house then deliver it to Kris Fix in Germany who fitted a brand new plug so not modifying it just repair it , he then put it back in said box and sent it back to me in all less then 7 days and cost me nothing. Had it not gone to him then Nvida themselves were more than willing to have it back as I spoke to them also which from experience would have been 10 days turn around but I wanted to keep the card as explained so sent it to Germany. I was so happy with the service I received i would have no issues paying out my own pocket had that been the case . Nvidia will not leave anyone in the **** over this and will have you a new GPU replacement no problem at all if you want to rma the thing. How was it esily sorted? you had to send your card all the way to germany if i am not mistaken who then had to mod it?
