NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Guys, do any of you happen to remember what the initial launch price was here on OCUK for the 5090 Astral?
Initial price on the Astral Air at OCUK was £3000, at the same time it could have been had on preorder elsewhere for £2700 but with a longer wait expected where as OCUK took less preorder so have had more stock at a higher price , it's nice to see some movement in the right direction on price and currently it's sitting just under Asus new MSRP of £2889 .

Is that going by the Asus website? Odd thing on there is the LC is priced the same as the air cooled Astral.

Yeah going by the Asus website for their MSRP , at release it was £2680 on their site but since then have upped their prices a few times and now sitting at £2890 ... I've never seen a price for the LC on their site but from the videocardz article about when they upped the prices the LC didn't get any adjustments for whatever reason, I assume it's because it will be in less demand than the air version and hence that one has increased in price....

Glad to see Stock coming in what did you all get in the latest drop ?
I got my patience tested again. :D Holding firm though.

The Aorus Master is a cracking card, but £2,700 for a GPU is a joke to me. As is £2500 for a mid tier Gaming OC. I’m keeping an eye on the market but am becoming increasingly comfortable with the idea of running my 4090 for another two years.

I’m so strange, that half the fun is just monitoring the market for me. I always do it for new PC parts since moving from console 4.5 years ago. It’s not something i’d admit on a first date, but i feel safe enough to say it here :D So it’s not all wasted time if i don’t end up buying one.

If Gibbo’s big stock is a Zotac Solid, i would be tempted, but a Palit isn’t going to do it for me. I can’t bring myself to spend £2k on that sort of abomination.

Thanks! That’s pretty good given it is one lf the smallest 5090s. I assume it isn’t too noisy at those temps either?
I do see some videos on YT of it hitting 70+c in games, but i assume that’s at full tilt without an undervolt.
It's not small - it's pretty massive. It's a full 3.5 slot card.

Without the undervolt, the main temps would sometimes hit 70 and the hotspot might hit 80.

I wasnt fast enough for today drop. and apparently the "notice me" feature does not work for me even tho Ive setup some and even tried just one.

I guess I need to wait on a daily basis :D for that price I think Ill go for the Astral, only had good experiences with my 4090 Strix Gaming OC
Damn

Wouldn’t blame you for hanging onto the 4090, it’s a great card and the uplift is small for the big price difference, unless you desperately want a 5090.

I really don't need a 5090, but.... sometimes an extra 25% umphhh would be nice. When I see a reasonably priced 5090 I will assess the used value of my 4090, and make a decision. Each day I feel differently tbh, but if it doesn't happen within the next couple of months, it won't happen at all.

If I was in your position I wouldn’t bother. Love my 5090 but no way the value becomes worth it for me coming from a 4090. Not to throw shade on anyone that’s done that exact upgrade as I myself have previously upgraded best to best multiple times :D. But I don’t think it’s worth it 4090 to 5090. Any 3000 series card or 4080 or lower then definitely worth it imo.

The 4090 also made little sense when I bought it, but my god it's been amazing, haha.

A large part of my desire for a 5090 was driven by the 4090 used prices, but they are begin to soften slightly it seems. The delta is going to be circa £1k if the 4090 is sold for a slight discount on the MM. Plus i'd need to spend £400 on a new case and PSU (although i'll need that for a 6090 anyway). Decisions decisions....

Good PSUs with loads of power overhead are not too expensive nowadays. I got my C1500 for £260 which is decent. Not the absolute best unit but obviously good and critically has two GPU power sockets for when nvidia give up on the ridiculous 600W down a single cable. Expecting to have to run a kettle lead out my GPU next time round and plug it into the wall. At least it won’t melt.

£1k net isn’t too bad but big cost for what, a 30% uplift? Nah not for me and you’ll definitely appreciate it more if you wait for a 6090 and get a much more noticeable bump in performance hopefully. Should be what, 70% or more over a 4090… hopefully closer to double performance. Something that will make the eventual higher net upgrade cost more digestible :)
