NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

SO what would u do in my case with a 3090? wait for 6090?

Is the 5080 100% better than the 3090?

An improvement, but not a huge improvement. See relative performance of 4080 super vs 3090 in 4k. 5080 will be single digit % points better than a 4080 super.

It's ultimatly up to you and if you feel it's worth it. Does it feel sluggish when playing new games?

If it feels like it's still a fast enough card for you for what you play or use it for, then I would wait until the refresh and see if there's a 5080ti with more vram or wait 2 years for the 60 series which is more likely to have a big uplift over this as the process node will be better. I personally wouldn't be in a rush unless there's a big reason why you want to change your card.

5080 will be a decent upgrade from 3090, without ‘busting the bank’ like a 5090 upgrade.

If you have a high refresh rate 4k monitor, you can potentially benefit from the MFG tech on the 50 series. If you don’t have a high refresh rate 4k monitor or have no interest in the MFG you would get less of the benefits.

Maybe wait for reviews and see.

Totally agree mate

I was looking at the 5080 FE as an upgrade from my 4080 FE if it was 30% plus increase. But not now I think I'll either look for a second 4090 FE or wait another 2 years and see what the 6080 or 5080ti might look like. But even when they announced the 5080 when I heard 16GB ram I was thinking sod that
Exactly my thinking. And to the previous poster who said they hoped the 5080 would be far better in power draw, yes it will. Probably considerably better.

But that will also scale with performance and with only 16gb of VRAM, my opinion is 100% identical to yours.

yea that 450w oc is certainly what i will try to do on my 5090 when i get round to getting 1 that is, nice to see these kinda things being shown are possible and the results of such cheers
i thought there was something wrong with the forum as no posts in 40 minutes but i guess there was nothing negative to say.

So is it looking like for the 5000 series, only 1 card is going to be faster than the flagship of the 4000 series? (On raw performance that is)

Has that ever happened before?
