Nvidia shadowplay

Ok, can someone try Tomb Raider. The video does display as 60FPS according to fraps but the video appears as if the game is playing at 30FPS. (Same affect for both 1080 and 1440P)

Actual performance in game appears unaffected though, which is always a good start. : )

I have done loads of testing with Tomb Raider and runs sweet as a nut. I have AB monitoring as well and no performance hit at all. Recording to an SSD helped big time.

I'm on 840 Pros so shouldn't be a problem there. There's a stutter occasionally when stop starting recording but that's it. FPS seems solid otherwise. It's just the encoding by the looks of it, or whatever is happening behind the scenes. The video doesn't appear fluent to me any who. Strange...maybe I should try with SLi disabled. Although that means cranking down SSAO from 4X :D Especially at 1440P lol

Here is a quick example of ShadowPlay at work. Probably best watched in 1080P and as you can see, it gives great performance with virtually no hit on performance.

Great work Nvidia and hoping to see some 1440P addition at some stage :)

Very short on features and compatibility at this stage but for what's there at the moment it works fine. Unfortunately youtube has murdered the quality of the original capture. I did a side by side comparison (advantage of running triples) and the scale of the compression artifacts introduced by youtube is terrible. Still hard to complain when it's free.

I didn't even try capturing at triple screen res having seen what it did to someone else who was running a 21:9 monitor. It squashes the whole image into a 16:9 frame but doesn't pilor box it to maintain the correct aspect ratio. I took my capture from a saved replay, so can't tell you what performance hit it had, but noticed that if I changed camera it would cut out the recording and leave me with a 2 second clip.

Reading around it seems that some people have had better luck by compressing the video first in Sony Vegas before uploading to youtube. I have certainly seem some much better quality videos than mine. e.g check this one out from FarCry 3 http://youtu.be/BqU4vp6_iuY

There's a workaround to get this working on mobile GPUs.

Hi guys, I have had the exact same problem and am happy to report I have found a working solution!
First of all, you need to make a shortcut to GeForce Experience.
Next right click on it and click properties and add -shadowplay to the end of the text in the target box, like this:

Then click ok, and simply double click on the shortcut to launch ShadowPlay!

I have tested this and it works perfectly.

I see what you mean Stephen. I uploaded my 3.6GB vid and youtube has killed the quality :(

Yes, 'tis a shame. I expect once people get a handle on it we'll see some guides as to how to optimize it. Nice video by the way although a bit unrealistic, I've never seen a bow and arrow reloaded so fast :p

Just tried running in surround to see if I could record anything but it's a no go. The shadow play icon has a red slash through it to indicate recording unavailable.

Dropped frames? Could be AFR in SLI causing the prob? Any update? :)

Thanks, would have had a much better video with the Ford GT2 car at Mt Panorama (more commonly known as Bathurst - where the Aussie V8's race) but it seems either I or iracing have a technical problem as none of my replays are currently available to me.

I can't believe i've never heard of this tech! This SERIOUSLY weighs my next GPU purchase towards the green. Exciting stuff as I love to record arma3. unfortunately I often dont as the performance hit is too great.

Just in case anyone is interested, this only works on Keplar GPUs, and only ones without Nvidia Optimus.

File limit in W7 is a pain, would be perfect to be able to record all 20 mins. Yesterday I had epic round in World of tanks, but full round took 13 mins, so first 3 got cut off.
In general, great feature which even at this stage is fully useful and can be deciding in choice between "green" and "red". Good job nVidia!

Tested this out in BF4 multiplayer just then, wouldn't even know it was recording if it wasn't for the little icon :) no input lag, no fps hit, it just works the way it was intended, brilliant.

What does DXtory use in resources? I hear that is very good on performance.

Bigger hit than shadowplay, also takes some setting up to get it right, file sizes are larger due to quality but when uploaded to youtube you can't notice the difference anyway through compression.

I was testing last night on BF3 with my 780 and I have to say Shadowplay is pretty impressive, even in beta. I saw very little performance hit, and great quality 1080p output with decent compression. It'll be nice when they enable twitch streaming as well. I was considering switching over to the red team tbh, but this is enough to keep me where I am for now.
