Nvidia Shield - Best handheld?

Had my Nvidia Shield for a week or so now, and have to say it's my favourite handheld console in a long, long time. With exclusives like Half Life 2, Portal, and Mount & Blade, it's got a great line up of games, also including the rest of the Android catalogue. GTA San Andreas, and Vice City, play great on this handheld console.

I find it really comfortable to use, with positive buttons and an amazing screen - and, probably most importantly, great battery life (unlike my 3DS). It can stream pc games too, but that's not something that interests me, so haven't looked into that feature.

Any other fans around?

How long you worked for nvidia :)

I don't, promise :) Just wanted to know other people's views on what I've found to be my favourite handheld for a few generations. Perhaps it's just the fact the games suit me more than what's available on 3DS and Vita, but I've already played on it more than the other two combined - barely touched my vita since I bought it.

There must be some misinformation about it, I heard it that it could only stream pc games and play android games, or is that it?

Basically, yes, but it's got some great exclusives, and it's the best way I've found to play games on Android.

When you say

Do you mean that these games can run on it independently, without the need to stream from a PC? I was under the impression that it was basically an Android device that could also stream games from PC?

Half Life 2, Portal, and Mount & Blade are exclusive Shield games, running on the system itself - and they run and look great.

Ah that's cool :) don't think I can justify getting one with the all other handhelds I own, plus I do more handheld gaming on my iPad than dedicated consoles :p

so £200 for a less than portable system with 3 games i can play on the PC?

it does seem a system that has a lot of potential but i just couldn't justify the cost myself, to be fair the only reason i still have the Vita and sold the 3DS is the PS4 compatibility.

I would love to see the same love from Nvidia and Sony to produce an Xperia Play 2 but i just cant see it happening :(

I could also enjoy those games on my PC at far higher res and much more comfortably.

Got nothing against it, it’s a nice idea. Just too expensive for what it is in my opinion. I'm not sure how it fits in the market. There’s so much choice already, consoles, handhelds, PC's, Macs, Tablets, Smartphone’s. All these platforms already have a plethora of games already. This has 3 "exclusive" games, on top of android games which well could be played on a Smartphone or tablet which would be cheaper and have much more functionality.

All true, and I've got a pretty big collection of tablets (3 Tegra 4 powered tablets, 7", 10.1", and 21"!), but there's just something really likeable about this handheld.

I think this version will remain a niche product, but hopefully the soon to be released second version will break the mainstream.
