Right im thinking on joining the Nvidia shield gang lolol. Just a few questions though what size external HDD can you use via the usb looking to use it for my movie collection via Aeon nox skin on KODI with my films on the external HDD. and can you play 3d films via KODI. i know the android box i have at the min only allows up to 2 TB external drive thats nothing

Then you spoke to an idiot.

I just walked in to the other room and plugged in a 4tb to check it of course works and someone on the forums has an 8tb working fine.

You will do for me mate im going to buy one now. Thsanks for letting me know. He said they only tested with a 1TB he could not say if it could take an higher one then 1TB. This is a device that can do 4K with no 4K disc drive and saying it can only take a 1TB lolol

What drive did you test it with please

Well im having probs streaming over my local network i have tried with powerlines. To stream via my pc movies 1080p which is upstairs to my Android box downstairs via KODI smb share and it stutters. I have tried the plex server on my pc to my android plex app and it says your connection to the server was not fast enough. So think sod it get the Shield and a drive plug it in and play me films via kodi from the drive and let kodi sort my fanfart exc via the Aeon Nox skin

I just ordered mine for £149 and thats with remote there doing offer until the 28th Feb with remote chucked in so thought thats it take the plunge. Im having few probs with my ISP at moment so streaming over my network is a prob at moment. So thought getting the shield so i can attach a larger HDD was for me i have a Android box at min even though its fine it only lets you attach a 2TB drive which is pants if you got films and music. And the pic Quality is suppose to be amazing on the shield. I like the idea of 24/192 for audio via USB which will be great for music connected to my Canton DM-55

Ive heard that the Shield ain't great at the mo for online Gaming im not a Gamer even tho the shield is aimed at a lot of Gamers im not getting it for that mainly its features

Wouldn't mind the shield has the potential to be a beast of a machine with the Hardware. All that power and limited on what it does. Very limited Apps not an awful lot of games. For the price of it as it stands i wouldn't go near it until Nvidia pulled there finger out and sorted the play store out and updated the games. looking at the reviews a lot of the games can be played on something like Minix neo u1

The shield is the best for Hardware but software is where it lets it down. Nothing much on it that a cheaper box couldn't do even the games can be played on a minix neo u1. And some may want a web browser. Which is hopeless on the shield. So in that regards its no better and the lack of google play apps doesn't really make it worth while to any android users

I use my HTPC which is in mine and the Mrs bedroom as a plex server it runs 24/7 have no issues changed the drives though to 2 6tb WD RED PRO drives which Ain't cheap. Have plex home theatre and that feeds my RPI 3 for the tv downstairs for Rasplex no issues at all

That is my question if the shield is used as a server then it would have to have the files on it to be a server. Would you use an External drive plugged into it?

Don't really see how much of a Benefit it would be putting the plex server on the Shield if people are using the Shield as a HTPC playing there files from a NAS. Iv'e not got the shield so im not 100% how it works. Can you put an HDD inside the Shield?
