Nvidia: what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming.

You can redefine something and do it over again, you do know that ? Obviously not. Redefining can also mean repeating, defining something can also mean explaining the qualities of said product.

They have redefined gaming. Yes they have repeated something thats already done, yes its not new, but it doesnt have to be to redfine something.

It's an incredibly common saying that is in effect used in a single way by everyone in the world today and for the past 50+ years. This is even more true in marketing, to mean along the lines of "our product will completely change the way you experience/use.... " whatever the heck the product is. No one EVER uses "it will redefine..... gaming/space travel/internet" in marketing to mean what you are claiming, ever.

We all know exactly what Nvidia meant by "redefine gaming" and you do to, stop trolling.

Only that's not the only definition for redefine, it also means to reexamine or reevaluate with a view to change or to transform. So, what about it is reevaluating with a view to change? It's just the same as what everyone else is doing.

All your doing is basically defending nVidia because they're doing the same as everyone else, when you know their marketing intention was not about repeating the same as everyone else.

I've only ever seen the most crazy of Apple cultists who would willing consume the marketing of a company and then when it's an empty promise they use the literal definition of the word to defend the marketing. It's doesn't make you any less of a fanboy to call-out nVidia on their poor marketing practices, it just means you can actually think for yourself.

Believe me, If AMD had said they were redefining gaming with any new GPU, while I would have a laugh (and I have cringed a bit at what NVidia said too) they are still factually correct. I could and never would debate that. But people are saying that they have not redefined gaming which is completely wrong. Either trying to wind me up or they're stupid, I'm not sure.

I understand most of your points too which I really should take on board. As I said, I cringed at what Nvidia said, I really disliked the issues around the 970 VRAM and the fact etailers had to pick up the pieces because of them, I also dislike their price gouging (excluding the etailers mark up). They are not untouchable in my mind, I just love their products, what they bring to market and their development as you generally see it come to market.

You are, quite honestly, the worst poster in this forum. Because you are indeed a fanboy, and try super hard to be the best (worst) fanboy you could possibly be. You succeeded.

If you get paid by nV, then fair play. It's a job. But if not, you should consider doing something more beneficial with your time than verbally jizzing over everything nV are involved with.

People like you make this forum so boring.

Being the best at something is not to be sniffed at ;)

That's not my point though DM. Regardless of they way they used it, and I know fine well they meant the world would change by this new product, I'm not stupid, but what they said is still factually correct, regardless of how they meant it.

This is one of the reasons Nvidia are so profitable, like apple, they make you believe you need this product even though you dont. I actually will have a use for it as I explained in a previous post rather than blindingly buying it because I'm loyal to them.

Actually if you weren't blindly following nVidia you'd be looking into the Valve option, which costs £50 against the £200 you'd spend by going nVidia. Or you would've looked into many of the other same products and made your purchase already. There are other hardware vendors you can buy items you feel you need before nVidia jumps on the bandwagon.

I have posted previously about this. The Valve option will go underneath my Kuro as its 1080 only. The Nvidia box will go in my gaming room and I'll pick up a 4k TV to go along with it.

edit. Just to add, what other boxes are out there with the same spec as the nvidia one ?

The thing is the Tegra and shield line are not profitable. They are losing $100's of millions.

There are some that are slower and others due around the same time or shortly after that are much faster. None are 100% the same spec.

an X1 powered tablet, like the shield, I would have bought... don't really have any interest in just a set top box, it seems like a step backward having an android device you can't take mobile

Im just curious as to what he meant by been able to stream games from a computer, do you have to have your own pc to stream from or do you stream it from the cloud? As in they provide a computer for you to stream from.

If the latter i understand it could be sort redifining gaming if the former then id rather just take my pc to the living room

You have to have a nvidia graphics card based pc to stream to it.....

*or you could do it already with other devices streaming* :D its nothing new but Nvidia trying to find a way to get rid of failed tegra lines

both
shield supports in home streaming, so you can use your nvidia main GPU to render but play on your TV, and with GRID they also support running the game in the cloud and playing it on your TV, so potentially you can be running a game at higher settings than the device itself supports without spending big money on 2 high end GPU's

however, for me personally, I can't see the lag of cloud gaming being acceptable, maybe not so much for a lot of the console type games that are ending up on PC these days, but for twitch shooters or proper PC games it would probably annoy me
