This thread made me realise I've never actually run GFE since installing it several months ago.
Which just makes me happier about uninstalling it
I have enough companies serving me targeted ads on things that actually need to be online to work...

If you want to use the software, then just log in and get on with it.
And then manually disable the background process which still gets installed anyway - every time.
