ATi are gonna have to pull out something very special to get back on terms. Mind you, currently have more faith in Ati's drivers than nVidia.

If that's all true there are more than a couple interesting cards to be released soon. The 8900gs could be the sweet spot as it's 256bit and has the same pipes and memory as the 8900gt. Which means they'll probably overclock a long way.

I think it will be either that or leap beyond 9k and go for something like 10800.

Doesn't surpise me too much. We're still getting decent midrange performance from 128bit so I think we'll still see high-mid range cards with 256bit for a while yet.

The chances of that happening is very very slim. As you can see above, ATi is already planning to release a range of graphics card and X2900XT is not part of its plan just yet.
