Italian website News4IT has leaked a set of benchmarks outlining the performance, power usage and acoustic characteristics of NVIDIA's imminent GeForce GTX 580. While the source of the charts are not definitively identified, it is suggested that it may be part of NVIDIA's marketing slide. Whatever the source, the performance benchmarks are virtually identical to the previous eNet leak.

Look's a bit dodgy to me

Looks very true to me.

I think the glaring looking obvious thing here is the lack of 5970 but the inclusion of a £175 6870. ROLF

Which the 580GTX doesnt beat...

Seems more or less in line with what can be expected from the leaked specs (7% increase in shader count, 10% bump in core clockspeed, 20% bump in memory clock, increased number of texture units).

Looks like around 15-20% improvement over the GTX480, with larger improvements in situations where texture throughput is important.

Hers a slightly modified pic I just done. ( Taken out the Green Giant / Unigine and Metro which are severly Tessilation Nvidia gimped.. )
And liked the scores.

It looks to me the GTX580 is hardly any faster than a GTX480. This card can't be the full spec 512sp GTX480 Fermi we got promised last year...

Seems to be 15-20% for the most part. Not exactly a revolution, but if (as rumoured) it comes alongside a reduction in power consumption then it's a solid improvement considering that it's using the same 40nm process.

I suspect that the 6970 will be more like a 25% bump over the 5870, but it may need a little more than this to catch the GTX580. The 6970 will undoubtedly still be less power-hungry than the GTX580 though, and will almost certainly be priced lower.

1.8? 1.8 what? Could mean anything with the magical units they've used on the Y axis.

They are scaling the results... 1.8 means "1.8 times the performance of the 5870", or an 80% improvement. Nvidia and ATI seem fond of using this method of presentation when showing off their new products.

Batman 1.6
Call of Duty 1.4
Starcraft 1.7
3d Vantage 1.4
Crysis 1.15
Farcry 1.45
Hawx 1.35
Just cause 1.3
Resident evil 1.05
World in conflict 1.25
Predator Alien 1.25
Battleforge 1.45
Battlefield 1.3
Dirt 1.425
Stalker 1.275

AVERAGE OF 1.35 OVER 5870.

That works out 580GTX IS ON average of 35% QUICKER than 5870.
(please remember that this is Nvidia's best settings, whatever they might of used...)

Can 6970 be 35% quicker than 5870....I think yes..

.

You think ? A lot look more like 4-5% with the main being 10-15%.

Looking at that graph any pair of cards between the GTX460 and HD5850 would easily have his beet. Anything faster would quite literally be off the charts.
