I just bought Crucial T700 2TB and I am using the heatsink that came with the motherboard and it's in the correct Gen5 slot.

It's supposedly a 12.4/11.8 GB/s drive but using Crystaldiskmark and even just copying large files to it I am only getting 10.8GB/s read and 2.1GB/s write.

I've been watching the temps in CrystalDiskInfo and they go to around 60-65c during the test, I do get variation on reads depending on the temps by a few hundred MB/s but write is consistently around 2GB/s.

What am I doing wrong?

What are you transferring from whilst copying over to the T700? (In case that's the source of your 2GB speed limitation and not the T700)

In CrystalDiskMark have you enabled the SSD/NVMe option for the test as well?

A large sequential file from a drive that can do 7GB/s reads. Yes I have the NVME option enabled for the test.

Interesting, I cloned my OS back to my old 7GB/s drive, formatted and tested it blank and it gets full 12GB/s read and 12GB/s write now.

The old drive is still getting expected speeds.

Could it have been the drive cloning that messed it up somehow?
