I think you'll have to check your motherboard user guide/manual my lowly Z97-A supports M.2 2260/2280 M-key though you have to enable it in the BIOS. However it doesn't mention NVMe by name although all M-key only are NVMe apparently (M.2 SATA are M+B key i.e. two notches in the edge connector instead of one)
I suspect the only way to be 100% certain is plug one in and see. Worst case scenario should be it'll recognise it and run albeit at the slower SATA speed, assuming you have the same socket.
I have the pro gamer board and a nvme drive works and there is a setting in my bios that changes it from sata to pcie gen 3 but haven't done any tests to confirm speeds. I have a rx570 gpu so don't think I will be getting full speed (rated at 3000mbps).
