Hi I'm looking to get a Nvme or ssd drive, the prices are not too far off each other, would i be better off getting a Nvme over SSD ?
I was wonder if it matters if the drive is PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0 ?
Also I have had a look at some clearance drives which have a short warranty, I was wondering If it would still come with the standard manufactures warranty or just the basic warranty stated ?

Nvme is certainly worth getting over standard SSD if you can, they are lighning fast, even the slow ones lol.

not sure about the other questions sorry

Thanks, I now have an idea of what I'm looking for.
Ill hold out a little to see if any deals pop as last month had.

Does it matter which brand I get or are they all the same?

I was looking at big brands like samsung, WD, Corsair but I came across some I've never used like ADATA which seem good.

Adata are a big brand but to be honest £90 for the sn 550 is great value .

Samsung are quality but overpriced .

There are overall no big differences between real world home use performance of different drives.
Actually in gaming average game doesn't even benefit really any from NVMe SSD over SATA SSD.
TechPowerUp's SSD reviews have some loading time measurements.

Only either very demanding or well coded games can benefit from those faster transfer rates of NVMes.
And loading time differences at that point aren't really meaningfull in human scale.
Doesn't make much difference, if game loads in two seconds instead of three.

So mostly priority should be in capacity per price.
Though there are few QLC Flash drives sold at price of TLC drives, which is just wrong for that garbage tech.
And Samsungs are in general brand overpriced.

I've never really used or heard of Adata much, So wanted to get some info on them, they look good but seem new.
Has anyone had any dealings with them ?
What is the after-sales like ( warranty )

Does anyone have any brand recommendations?

I was thinking the same SSD vs Nvme capacity vs price.
In the past it was different but now the prices are not that far apart

The only issue I would face is the fact my board only supports 1x M.2 PCIe 3.0 so I can only have one, if I wanted more storage it would be HDD or SSD which is not an issue for me at the moment.

I think currently the SN550 is the best bang for buck nvme drive. It occassionally drops to 70-80 ish for the 1TB drive.
