Anyone up for it?

I'm 250% sure to be buying this game (as long as the general reviews believe in it) and it looks like a few more people on here will so anyone up for making a great mod ran by OCuk members?

I was no good with the toolset last time, but i've heard a couple of you getting it already and having a play.

Hey Dokko,

Saw this posting yesterday and didn't wanna say anything before having a play around with the Toolset. Turns out it's EXTREMELY versatile and you can create just about anything you can think off. I have a lot of experience with the Aurora Toolset of NWN1 and will definetly be modding the pants off this game. I've already created and baked a few simple modules and just waiting for the game now. It definitly takes more work than the older toolset but the rewards is going to be so worth it. Almost every modder I talk to seems to think that 2-3 months for a decent sized campaign is the norm.

I'm kinda toying with the idea to build a TES IV expansion pack set on the Summerset Isles but based on the Electron engine off course. Technically it will be quite easy with the toolset but managing the complexity and not getting lost is,well, almost impossible. My tiny brain cannot even begin to contemplate the complexities of managing the process. I just like building worlds and quests.

Anyway, just letting you know that I might be interested but we will need more people to help manage the project and to do different modules. Two people cannot do it all alone. Let's wait until the game is released and we're comfortable with the toolset and its expanded possibilities and then take it from there.

Ok, I know I said this thing is versatile. Change that to INSANELY, UNBELIEVABLY versatile. I've been building jungles, deserts, tropical islands, ancient caves and populating it with giants, dragons, hermits, magic, fireflies, sandstorms etc etc. Your imagination will truly be the ONLY limit.

One thing though, I can see this game being GPU intensive. The models and meshes is very detailed and will play havoc on older cards. Anyway, I expect we're all in for a treat when modders start releasing mods. This is going to be awesome.

This is great stuff regulus, sounds like you know what your doing.

I might have a bash at it myself.

When the game is released, and people are getting into it, there'll be loads of people looking for a new home on NWN2, would be great if OcUK had its own.

Anyone else out there handy with the toolset or has been a DM?

If you're interested and have never done any modding before, use the Hitchhikers Guide to First Opening the NWN2 Toolset.

It's purely for beginners and I mean proper beginners. I had a quick read through that just now and it'll get you on your way within 10min. Once you've worked through that, start looking at scripting and other advanced features.(also very simple)

It's really very easy to use this toolset. Once we're all good enough to build a great and lasting mod, we can plan what we're going to do for a new world/mod and I'll put up a website and we can work from there. So, get working on the toolset!

I want to make a huge world and just keep adding to it. If we can get 5-10 good modders that spend about 2 hours a day working on it (depending on how fast you are off course), building a world the size of Cyrodiil should be do-able

I'm up for this, do you have msn? Mine's in my trust.
Has anyone preordered the evil version? When/how did you get access to the toolset?

What kind of mods do people like?

My favorite was actually the first one i ever played online, it was fantastic.

It was called:

Legend of the Deathlands

And can be found here:

http://www.pretender.ch/

It was around a long time ago, in the 1st months the game was released, and was the busiest server for about 2 years.

It had a few more updates to it (you can dowload an older version to try about with) then the makers went off to make a Diablo mod, where you talked to buy (which was very complex but great) and communitcate with NPC's.

It has a great flow to if, and many just did it over and over again, the items were great and it was very hack n slash.

Nothing comes close to this mod, it was the best, it had loads of great members as well, such a shame it died, i never really enjoyed NWN's as much after this place dissapeared. :(

You have to pre-order and then you get sent an access code to download the toolset. I ordered the Evil version from Game.

I don't have msn but will open up an account later tonight since I'm blocked from where I am am the moment. Will post my msn on here then for anyone that's interested.

People make online mods using the toolset provided.

Its like making maps for FPS, only you build the worlds, make the quests, and script all the non playing characters.

It takes lots of time, but bonus is, you've created your own world, and its great if its popular and used by the online community.

Its the best part of NWN's, and hopefully again we will see some great work.

Ah ok,so i was thinking along the right lines then. These mods, do they then run on seperate servers?

Yes.

Really good stuff mate, you should give it a go.

NWN's is one of my most fav and played games ever.

Only CM/FM series has beaten it to more game play hours.

Once you get into a good mod, make a few friends and go off questing, its seriously hard work to get into bed, go to work, or even eat.
