I pretty much never use the nxe and still navigate my friends lists and messages by using the guide button and using the older style dash. The rest for me is just bloat. Especially the friends list. Takes way too long to navigate and I couldn't give a toss about avatars.
The bloat is what annoys me. There's no need for 5 different sub categories that lead to the same page nor is there any need for endless avatars to scroll through on the friends list.
