Cheers for the answer to my question - forgot I had asked in here. Update was easy and simple, but unfortunately my friend has had to return the X360 as its now started freezing since the update. He hasnt loaded any games or anything or moved it so I told him while its new to get it replace within the 30days.

Hes already told me that he wont be putting it online as he doesnt want the NXE update and has little reason to have it online (hes not a social gamer, just pick up and play). Sounds like he might be better for him...

BTW he had to create a gamertag on his X360 to get online - will that be alive 'forever' if he decides to go online in the future?

Anyone else still having issues with NXE? Mine tends to freeze for around 10 seconds everytime i use the guide. Gets very annoying when trying to accept an invite or send a message.

Proabably all the jam sandwiches your daughter has stuffed in the drive or all the times she keeps turning it off for you ;)

I used to have the long pauses on my last 360 but since swapping the NXE has been much faster for me.

I've removed the faceplate so she can't turn it off anymore :p but she does open the disc tray on occasions :o
 
Delete the cache if you're having trouble with freezing, be aware though, you'll have to download title updates again.

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Mine's the same. I was hoping it'd get sorted but apparently not !
 
If they could optimize the guide to be quicker I'd be a lot happer with NXE as a whole. The only other bad thing apart from the slow Guide is the default channel being Spotlight and not MyXbox. I swear it would be easy to speed up the guide, they could pre-load all friends and details in the background surely. This is microsoft after all, i'm sure they could make it work more efficiently...somehow.

Bring on v2!

I pretty much never use the nxe and still navigate my friends lists and messages by using the guide button and using the older style dash. The rest for me is just bloat. Especially the friends list. Takes way too long to navigate and I couldn't give a toss about avatars.
