NXE Official thread

2 hours to go, i'm quite looking forward to it, and if the installing to HDD presents noticeable results (for me) then it may result in the purchase of a 60GB HDD (120 would be pointless as i never have more than 5-6 games ^^)

How come it's coming out at 10AM GMT, when updates normally come at 9AM GMT (10AM BST)? :(

If the game is designed to be rendered at 720p then it'll be impossible to display at 1920x1200 without losing the aspect, or cropping the image, hence only 1920x1080 available :)

Oh well, I didn't take a sickie.... will just have to wait til tonight.

Actually, I think the reason I wanted a sickie was to not just be at work, and even something as trivial as this was looking good as justification.

that's stupid -_- why would anyone buy a 60GB HDD without the intention to upgrade their premium (and thus want to keep there save files) does this mean i'll have to buy this transfer cable, or will i be able to ask Microsoft for one (and thereby wait 6 weeks to use my new hard drive?)

you could buy one off egay, or see if the transfer kit lend out thread is still around and working??

Is it a bit daft, but they aim the 60Gb as a starter kit for people going from the Arcade.

AFAIK you can request the transfer cable even if you have the 60GB, but the form you have to fill in and post (seriously, you have to post a letter to the biggest IT company in the world!) still only mentions 120GB/Elite.

Suppose I've never come across this issue, as I own a monitor and TV that can keep the aspect ratio of the displayed image rather than stretching :p

Do you mean you do get black bars or that the image is stretched to keep the aspect ratio and so you get considerable overscan?

that's just such a big oversight, i'm sure there are plenty of premium users who want the additional benefits of the larger hard drive without the cost of the 120GB one.

ah well, such is life :D
