nzbmatrix quits

Nzbsrus is now an iphone forum it would seem.
absolutley gutted about matrix it was the best site by a mile been a member for about 8 years

I'm liking the design of the. so site! Especially the hover over cover for a preview and info thing!

Never needed anything like this, have been quite happy with binsearch for the last 5 years, one thing to remember though, the authorities are not always right especially when it comes to copyright and the act first justify later..
look at kimdotcom, bit by bit, that case is unravelling and they are finding that they don't have a legal leg to stand on..

The american copyright holder will open a court case against them and request for their extradition, much like the guy in news recently.

Alternatively if they're having to send 10 DMCA requests every hour then they can just take them to court anyway (hence NZBMatrix being closed, it would have been a case of we will petition for your extradition unless you close your website). DMCA requests are essentially a form of good faith between providers of content and copyright holders. We initially have to assume the providers of content aren't wilfully breaking the law.

It's been pretty obvious for the past 5 years that Usenet is getting too popular and easy to use. I mean, programs like sickbeard and couch potato are kind of taking the **** lol.

Thanks for the reply. You confirmed pretty much what I had thought. So basically they are at the mercy of the government of the country the service resides in!

Is downloading tv episodes that have aired on tv pirating if I own a tv license?

It's the principle.

If they knew anything about this then they shouldn't have been taking new registrations.

If they didn't know then the decent thing would be to hand out refunds.

Fat chance of that though.

I think in an environment as hostile and chaotic as this that you should think there if an inevitability of sites shutting down. If you care so much about your seven quid then chargeback through your card company claiming goods not received.

Do these TV episodes come with the advertising which pays for them? Of course it's illegal. People have to pay (one way or another) to watch these shows and if they want to see them again they either had to have made a personal recording or wait until they're released on DVD.

With TV licenses and cable contracts there should be systems in place to gain access to this material through legitimate sources, often there is, things such as iPlayer or in the US they have things like Hulu. It's still illegal to get TV from P2P or usenet or ftp etc though but as the public becomes more accepting of watching things on the internet we will see more and more legitimate sources appearing.

For the price of a typical usenet subscriptions you can get netflix. It's what these stupid copyright holders should have done all along, provide a reasonably priced legal service that is better than what you can get illegally. They shouldn't be annoyed by illegal services, they should be embarrassed they don't offer something better.

The iphone forum is to tell people what's happening. From the site:

Due to actions beyond our control we are forced to re-locate the site to a new server.

however access limitations sanctioned on us by the data enter are making this more difficult.

also as the site data is so large this is not any easy task and connection speeds between the server and backup locations are not great.

we are working on reviving the site, however this will be well into the weekend & possibly extended into early next week until we are operational again.

Agree with that. I used to pirate the **** out of music but I haven't illegally downloaded an MP3 since I started using Spotify Premium.

They need a pay per month gaming service. Rather than paying for each game, I'd rather pay £40 a month and access any game at any time.

Can't see that happening though.

LOL at the irony of being ripped off by a website you were a member of whose main purpose was to aid the ripping off of copyrighted materials for it's users :p

I think that can't really happen until everyone has very fast connections, which even next console generation won't be the case.
