O2 3G coverage question...

Ill try keep this to the point!

Along with the n96 deal i got from the CPW i also got a Virgin mobile sim card, which i have placed in my old n95...

Now in my area I've never got a 3G signal with o2 and to my surprise i get a real strong(near perfect) 3G signal with Virgin.

Not knowing much about the mobile networks, do these 2 networks not share the same 3G network? Or have i got it wrong?

Looks like 02 3G is just **** for my area, atleast the 3g works where i need it the most anyway.

O2 are well behind most networks for 3G coverage.
Virgin operates on top of T-Mobile's infrastructure

your in the same boat as me. I'm with O2 and really fancy the HTC HD. But there is no point getting a 3G phone with no coverage. Orange despite its alleged faults has very good coverage for me

I heard quite recently that O2 is doing a lot to increase their 3G coverage.

yeah they are. HSDPA or whatever it is called.
and t-mobile are too

They are, but they have been forced into it.
They had to reach a certain level of coverage by a certain time this year or they would be fined
Also, since they have exclusivity with the iPhone, i'm sure apple must be pressuring them too

just done future coverage check on my exchange, nothing
