Found a great deal for a HTC Touch HD on mobiles.co.uk. A little confused about the prices as i cant work out whether i need to specify i want a bolt-on added when i order or whether i have to wait until the phone arrives. Can anyone help solve this confusion. Really need the unlimited data :)

Is the bolt on free ? You get a free bolt on with certain tariffs if you go directly thru O2, im not sure if its free on certain tariffs however if you get your phone / tariff via a 3rd party seller.

The offer comes with a free unlimited text bolt on, to give you, you guessed it, unlimited texts instead of just 500. Some people have managed to change this free bolt on for a different bolt on with success, others havent. This however (as well as adding other bolt ons) is done through O2 directly once you receive the phone.

I've ordered the phone, if O2 wont play ball then i will just cancel the contract and send the phone back. But thanks for warning me, i will see what happens :)

If it comes with specific bolt then i would imagine you would have to pay to get one of your choice

If you ordered from Mobiles.co.uk make sure you phone O2 to change the bolt on BEFORE you put the sim card in the phone as once you use it you cant send it back at all (even under DSR).

But dont these companies already register your phone for you? I remember a few years ago my phone came preregistered to orange. Is this right?

Someone from XDA Developers forums said that they had an email from O2 confirming that they can change their promotional bolt on at any time during the contract. Take this with a pinch of salt though, best try it before you put your sim card in.

Dont you have upto 7 or 14 days (not sure on exact time) according to Distance Selling Regulations to change your mind - im sure that not only goes for sending the phone back but for tariffs and possibly the bolt ons (as that is part of the tariff i guess) I supose best thing to do is to ring O2 and find out.

I rang o2 on monday (regarding uprgrading) and i came off the phone having changed to a simplicity tariff (including a bolt on) however on weds i decided i wanted a new phone after all and called them, got the new phone, changed my tariff and changed the bolt on with no problems what so ever.

Without activating the sim card which constitutes acceptance, therefore unable to return (mobiles.co.uk).

Not neccesserily - in my case the tariff was active the second i put the phone down to O2 so therefore i accepted the "product" there and then........i still had 14days to change my mind

o2 direct(or cpw shop defo(not sure on the online)) you have 14days, mobiles.co.uk & e2save from what I've read you only have 7days(the o2 usual 14days means crap all).

I go directly through o2.

I opted for the unlimited data bolt on. If i remember correctly, they said that i could swap bolt on's each month.

Phone came, tried to change the bolt-on and O2 wouldnt play ball. So i will send the phone back. Its a shame but i dont think that having a £42.50 contract is suitable for my useage. Really liked the phone though, looked awesome.

try calling 0800 5874715, people over on xda-forums have had more luck with it then through the 0870 number. also don't give up after just 1 try, try several times and threaten to cancle the contract if they still don't do it(if all else fail send it back and cancle).
