O2 Broadband launched

O2 is Be, O2 own Be. They are both the same LLU network.

There is a possibility O2 are offering a BT IPStream product to people who can't get the LLU service - just so no one's left out. So this might be why you're seeing 8Mb, and it probably means the checker's just being thick if Be say they operate there.

They don't offer a service to anyone not in an area with no Be* equipment in the exchange so I think it's just a difference in the way O2 and Be estimate how much speed you can get.

I've been using O2 broadband for about 5 weeks now and I would never think of changing it, I was pretty happy with my last broadband provider (freedom2surf) but O2's broadband support seems just as good and I've doubled my speed for a cheaper monthly price.

Do you by any chance work for them? lol

I'm really thinking about going for it, but i'd only do LLU so i'd end up with a little speed increase.

Maybe I do ;) (although nothing to do with the broadband side)

However, my impressions are not based on who I work for - if I thought it was a rubbish product I just wouldn't bother posting about it. The reason I'm posting is because I've already had O2 broadband for 5 weeks unlike most people so can give an insight on how I feel about it. I'm sure as more and more people are connected you'll be able to get a pretty balanced view how how good/bad it is anyway, but I for one am more than happy.

So is this O2 Broadband using LLU the same as BE* are? I entered my telephone number into BE and it said i could get upto 24mbit, then i put my details into the O2 checker and it just said upto 8mbit?!?!?!

Anyone clear this up?

its based on the BT LLU checker, so whereas Be* will sell you either Home, or Value, O2 will look at BT LLU checker and see what package you can get based on your line length etc.

I ordered mine this morning. The o2 website says I can get up to 16mb package. Ordered over the phone and they say I can only get the 8mb package as my line is estimated to be capable of 7mbit. That's not definite though.

Can't complain for £7.50! compared to the £25 I'm paying for IDNets 8mb MAX ADSL. If it isn't good, then the 100 day guarantee is there, so its worth a punt.

How long does it take for one to be able to login and check their o2 email for order status?

I'm trying to login through the website but it isn't recognising the user/pass. Anyone had this?

I'm using the username (with @o2.co.uk) and password that I chose when ordering the service.

Any ideas?
