I requested an unlock and they say they can't without the number off the back of my sim !!!
Trouble is, i lost it months ago, soooo, does anyone know of a way around this ??
TIA

If you lost the SIM then they can't really unlock the phone, it needs to be on their network to do an unlock remotely.

thanks for all your replies, i've mailed them with 'the new sim' suggestion, i'll see what they come back with !!

Not true. iPhone unlocks are done on the iTunes authentication server, so the next time you plug your phone into iTunes (Sim card or not) it gets unlocked.

O2 definitely didn't ask for that number when I got both of my iPhones unlocked, they only asked for the IMEI.

Maybe there is some confusion as to whether they were talking about the SIM number and the number on the SIM holder (which is indeed the IMEI)? What Xenoxide says is correct.

That was the case originally but I believe it's changed. There's no longer a one year minimum period.

So basically my 7 month old iphone payg can now be unlocked through o2?

Edit: just looked ; yeah I can but if I choose to use my sim again I lose free 'web and wifi' for the last 5 months.

Good to know though:)

i got a mail from O2 today saying they could now unlock it without me giving them the number on the back of the sim. I have to wait a further 2 weeks for them to unlock it tho.
But at least ist being sorted now.
Thanks everyone for your replies !!
