O2 home phone - does anyone have it?

As the title really.

I've got O2 broadband and am very pleased with it and the quality of the call centre staff if I ever need to call.

They've now launched their home phone service, £12.50 per month for anytime calls and line rental which seems like a bargain.

The only thing I'm worried about is things going wrong like they did with Talk Talk as they were overloaded at the beginning.

I'm also going to be using the line for making calls for my business so it's got to be as good as BTs is.

Is anyone one O2 home phone? If so how have you found it so far?

Not yet been waiting for it to arrive for ageeees, going home in a bit and will be persuading my Dad to get it along with their broadband as soon as I get in.

So maybe get it done this week or the week after next when I'm back from holiday. :)

Overall cheaper than the Tiscali that they have got at the minute and will be a lot a lot faster.
 
Yep Azza, the broadband part of the service is great, I can't fault it.

Just after Christmas I downloaded over 100GB of Steam games I had got in the sale no problem at all and the speed seems good.


Not hearing a lot about the phone part of the service though, whether that's a good thing and it just works I don't know!
 
I looked at their home phone service, but decided against it.

I was with BT on their evening and weekend package on a 12 month contract at £11.54 per month.

O2 would be £9.50 per month for the same package, plus £1.75 to get caller display (which is free with BT), so £11.25 per month.

Called BT and told them that o2 was cheaper (didn;t mention that they charge for Caller Display) and got a £3 per month dicount if agreeing to another 12 month contract, so £8.54 per month. (They pay this discount as a £36 lump sum on your bill)

So, you can get a better deal by staying with BT.

I have o2 broadband, and it is great.
 
Given the fact my O2 bb is up and down more than a tart's knickers, and the Manchester central O2 mobile service is less than consistent (texts often 'disappear'), I decided against it. Even though they offered me a handsome discount.
 
What happens when you all put your phone & post code in on the O2 website?

For me it says I can't get anything here, think that be because the phone line is with Tiscali now. But I checked my nan and grandad's house and it said they could get broadband there but no phone... :confused:


Think I'll give them a ring tomorrow if I can and see what they say.
 
Bah just spoke to O2 and because my parents are with Tiscali for the phone, they would have to switch back over to BT and then change to O2 that way for the phone line. But that would mean massive cancellation stuff when it comes to it because BT offer only 12 month contracts.

What sort of discount did they offer you? I'm still mulling it over so it would be interesting to hear what sort of deals you can strong arm out of them.

Broadband issues can be caused by a number of things, have you investigated at all? Are you on the access or LLU package?
 
O2 Home Phone is pretty much the same price as BT once you factor in the extra cost of caller ID and voicemail.

Which is a good bargaining tool to use with BT (just don't mention the extra cost for caller ID with o2).

I tried haggling with 3 people at o2 to come down on the cost, but they won't budge at all.

Instead (as posted earlier) i got a good discount from BT by telling them I could get a better deal with O2.

I only need the eve/weekend package, but you could probably haggle a similar discount from BT for the anytime package as well.
 
as soon as my BT contract runs out next month, i'll switch my phone line over to o2. the only reason i have it installed is for my o2 broadband. i'll save a couple of quid each month plus there is the added bonus of not lining BT's pockets.
 
I'm also going to look into this. My first year of O2 broadband was criminally cheap thanks to Quidco, but I obviously can't use that again so I'm looking to recoup the additional cost some other way.
 
I got a good deal with Topcashback for the broadband packages I took out (have to cancel one 6 months into the contact unfortunately)...they don't seem to have any offers for the phone service though. :(

Have you contacted O2 about it? I've found them to be really good as far as tech support goes. I had a problem with getting a static IP setup, it took a couple of days to sort (and got two months free rental for the inconvenience!) and they even rang me up the next day to make sure everything was working OK. :eek::D I was pretty pleased about that, you really don't feel like just another number with them.

Even if the O2 phone service works out at about the same price as BT I would rather go with O2, the BT support is so bad I don't even want to ring them.

Still got to make sure it's a good service though!
