I filled out The unlocking form online last night and they said they will text me within 14 days to tell me what to do next.

Can anyone tell me what else I will need to do and more importantly how long it will realistically take? I wa t to get my phone sold as soon as possible.

Just had mine done, took 4 days in total. They send you a text message and then you just re-activate via iTunes and it's unlocked.

As above. Rarely takes anywhere close to the full 14 days, but because they're now busy dealing with a load of new/upgrading customers it might take a bit longer.

I didn't realise you could get them to do it in a legit way, always thought I would need to pay some shop to do it.

When I did it, there was a charge if you were on pay&go, but not if you were on contract. Not sure if that's still true.

Also, I don't think random shops can unlock iPhones (jailbreaking aside) as it's done through iTunes (and presumably now iCloud) and Apple only deal directly with the carrier (i.e. O2). Giffgaff have run into that problem.

Yep, I was on PAYG an it cost £15. You can't do it straight away in the shop as said above, it's actually apple that unlocks it via iTunes.

I did mine before the 4s came out as I wanted to give it to my wife, but I suspect it may be a little longer now due to 4s activations.

I didn't have to.. Just plugged it in and it activated, no need for a restore.
