O2 Issues - South Yorkshire

Anyone having issues with o2/GiffGaff this morning in the South Yorkshire area?

I can't make calls, send texts or use data and its the same for everyone at my work.

The slightly weird thing is that iMessaging still works despite data not working :confused:

Same in Nottingham, Whole things down.. No incoming or outgoing calls/text, Yet I still have a strong signal

Im in Oxford so it seem the problem is quite big

Yup, same in Reading. While I like GiffGaff... Had 3G problems a few weeks ago, now this =/

I kept making calls, thinking it was the receiver who I couldn't get through to. I rang my landline and then realised it was giffgaff =(

Apparently its a burst water main, so it looks as though its going to be down for some time

They are apparently working on it...

I assume it's just GiffGaff and not o2?

Yeah just GiffGaff. I've had a few issues with GG recently and this is just about the icing on the cake for me. Where's the contingency?!

This is dissapointing that I can't use my phone at all, but Giffgaff are worth sticking with. Cheapest by a mile and the service is usually spot on.

Can't see why everyone is complaining, fair enough it's gone down, but its not really controllable is it.

Just follow the page, stay near somewhere with an internet connection for your laptop and sit tight.

The lack of contingency is what has got to me.

What's annoying me is that I convinced the majority of my mates to move over to Giffgaff to and now I can't get a hold of them to organise tonight.

To be fair, I've had an outage with TalkTalk, an outage at my parents house with BT and an electricity outage to boot. All within the last 6 months.

Sometimes backups are too expensive to maintain and run - you're paying practically nothing for a very good service. If you're not happy, move elsewhere and pay more for better reliability.

Data just came back for me but still no text or calls. At least they have fixed something

Data is now fine. I can receive texts and calls, but cannot call or text out.

Data was the important one for me today as typically I'm changing home broadband suppliers today and have no broadband!

For what?...its a bit of a freak accident, another completely unrelated company has gone and dug though a line, theirs no possible way to have a secondary in place for something like that.
