Some of you may have good experiences with them but i certainly have not. basically the line has always dropped, after a lot of cs phonecalls it got sorted. Now recently, past 1-2 weeks the internet stops working (everyone is still connected to the wireless, jus the internet goes). We pay for 8mb and i dont think i've ever got above 2mb when i've done a speed test, i'll do one now and sod's law it'll be above 2mb lol. Here's the stats that may help:

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,278 / 5,887

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 23.5 / 39.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.0 / 5.5

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM

Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Link (Remote): 0

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 40 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 2,166 / 1,452,918

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 2,166 / 2,479

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 60,250 / 1,759

No idea what most of that means but you guys might. Any changes i should request with O2? and what about that fastpath thing, should i request that? Thanks!

edit: Does the following mean i get 5887 download? cause i've never achieved that, could it be that the router is rubbish or that im too far away?

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,278 / 5,887

done a speed test and got 5mb download which i never get, sods law. Ping was 48ms upload 1mb

Ok tomorrow i will do a test with it plugged into the master socket. May also remove ringwires, but is it sensible to ring them up and ask them to increase the snr to 9db?

Thanks

hmm, i guess i'd rather sacrifice some speed for it to stop dropping out all the time, it makes online gaming impossible, and thats a big issue for me.

So what should i do, try all the options and see which works best? and whats this about fastpath, will that help speed at all?

The wireless shows up as connected and 4/5 bars which is the usual. It's so annoying cus like in gaming, i use ventrilo to chat and i always end up getting vital messages late so our team loses.

Router is connected to the master socket, i'll try putting it into the test socket.

Just plugged it into the master socket and its given me this:

Does that show anything?

posting another jus cause i guess it might be more stable after 20mins?

ok i pinged the default gateway, i got packets sent = 4, received 3, lost 1 and before it lost 3 and received one.

it also disconnected me from the router?

edit:
i also did a speed test which dropped to 3.2mb from 5mb last night?

it actually reset the router

can you recommend a good test site?

well judging by the refreshed connection time i think the router reset, i dont know why but it happened when i pinged

uptime reset and the SN margin changed on the up by 0.5?

edit: i pinged again and all were successful and it didnt disconnect me

yea it just went laggy and i pinged and they were all fine? What could be tyhe problem, should i just go removing all the ring wires? get a new faceplate? ask them to increase the SN margin? so confused

yea its the wireless 2 box if thats the white one. its an 8mb package, i think i've got an apple airport extreme but duno if thats adsl2

update: i've removed the ringwire, and the gains were huge, this is now the stats in the master socket (not in test port). How do i go about reducing latency though? or is that a stupid question? because i always lag out of games, could this be a wireless issue?

How do i fix that though? is that just because its a poor router? also with ringwire removed these are the stats:

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4 / 23,686
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 4 / 32

bandwidth much better compared to first post.

will do, so just to clarify its not the wireless signal from the router, its the ability of the router coping with the demanding connections?

i tried turning off upnp and the whole thing jus died, couldnt go on msn or anything, pages wouldnt load, but i turned it back on and its still pretty awful. Im starting to think its either a poor router or something on o2's side.

pretty sure its the router, anyway its being ok now, rung o2 they said if it keeps dropping they'll send me a new router, but i'm gonna buy a new router anyway. Any recommendations on an adsl2+ max price is £40 excluding delivery.

The o2 guy said a lot of the exchanges were down yesterday, maybe that was why. Cant really disable wireless because im on of 3 using it wirelessly.
