got connected afew hours ago so first off, i've taken a speedtest...

i wish it was this fast :p

im using the o2 box, do these stats look alright?

DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,282 / 11,684

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 36.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 6.5

Also make sure you're doing a speedtest when connected via a wired (not wireless) link as everyone and their dog now has a wireless network which slows them all down (unless you're on a very different channel).

my main PC is wired, and its the one i did the tests off of

Speedtest.net is garbage, as suggested you want to be looking for a decent sized file from a site that you know works well. Something like this.

this morning it sycned at 1,274 / 10,490
just downloaded the 100MB_nonzero.bin and its saying 100mb done in 4 minutes 3 secs - transfer rate 421kb/s

just tried it using my netgear DG384G, synced at 1095 / 10992
same file downloaded, saying 100mb done in 3 mins 36 - transfer rate 474kb/s

edit : with FDM download manager on IE7 i have been downloading some trailers at speeds between 800kb/s - 1200kb/s

so i rang them up and he just told me to wait until the first 10 days had cleared due to line testing
my problem now is i cant play any online games, for example CSS gives me a connection error message after about 3 minutes ingame
i'll switch back to the DG834G and see if i get the same problems with that

oh and my stats today :
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,282 / 11,224
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.5 / 37.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 3.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 408 / 670,224
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 408 / 199
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 22,047 / 159

theres a lot of errors there, could this be causing all my problems??

just a slight update the line has stayed synced at 1,287 / 11,216 for 3 days now, download speeds are still around the 200kb/s area unless a download manager is used

currently downloading the crysis demo using free download manager at 820kb/s

Uptime: 0 days, 4:08:39
DSL Type: G.992.3 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,291 / 7,671
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 33.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 6.5

todays stats... is there any reason why the router now reports the DSL type as being G.992.3?

heres an update for you!
after calling the customer support 4 times, and having 2 seperate fault cases raised it appears to be fixed. im still waiting for a call back so they can run afew tests and tell me exactly what has been fixed though
ive downloaded 2 HD trailers off of itunes at 1.1mb/s aswell as afew other things

edit : ok ive been informed today that all the BT engineers did was clean the copper contacts at the exchange and reconnected it back up
