Just wondering who's best to buy the iPhone from - returns is my main issue as I'll be jailbreaking and unlocking the phone.

Anyone had any experience returning one to either shop older than 14 days that's been unlocked/jailbroken?

Craig.

I've returned 4+ iPhones at 02 because I scratched them and wanted a refund (I told them it was an unwanted gift :o)

Basically, they take the box, check the IMEI number matches and give you a refund.

Carphone Warehouse do NOT accept returns on iPhones unless you've failed the iTunes tariff credit-check.. and they'll pass you on to Apple if it's faulty, they're a joke.

All 4 phones were fully unlocked when I returned them, I'd just done a restore first.

^^^^^ You scratched 4 iphones??? and returned them? That is terrible !

Is that mean you've bought 10 all together? Since you said in another thread you bought 5 or 6. And how did you managed to scratch 4..........do you have Shrapnel embedded in your hands or something?

I doubt you can return to either as if it does break, and you take it back, all they have to do is check if you have an O2 contract, if you don't then they'll know you have jailbreak it.

Why are you worrying anyway? Do you plan to break it in 14 days?

Nah, not planning to break the thing at all, but as you know hardware can go wrong :p

Sounds like I'll go for one from O2 then, if I can find it in town :p

Do they put any horrible branding on it?

I was planning the same, but heard good and bad things about both ZiPhone and iLiberty.

iLiberty is apparently quite buggy under Windows still and some people have reported problems with ZiPhone.

Meh, I'll just go with ZiPhone and Bootneuter :)

First one was a launch day iPhone, that got scratched because I didn't have a case / didn't know what to expect.

The second was a replacement that I bought 2 days later (to avoid suspicion), and that got scratched because I tried a terrible case on it.

The third was bought at CPW because I felt it would be pushing it at 02 again (;)), sold that on ebay because I dropped it and I couldnt return it at CPW.

Bought a replacement one at 02 when the funds cleared, and again, it got scratched (that metal bezel is a terrible idea btw!).

Feeling that i'd pushed my luck I then bought 4 from Apple online, 3 to sell, and a 16GB model for myself. Sold the 16GB model to fund some stuff, and here I am today.. iPhone-less, waiting for the 2.0 revision.

.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand breathe..

They have awful awful staff, plus they are mega stingy bought two phones from them in the past and they screwed me over twice. You were lucky I guess...

lol, how did they screw you over?

I went in, bought iphone, went home, ziphoned - jobs a goodun!

Even a good chain of shops have a bad shop somewhere. :)
