I'm shopping around for a new phone/contract after being on Virgin pay as you go for years and came across the simplicity deal, am I reading this right -

£20/mo gives -

600 mins
unlimited txt's
+ a bolt on i.e. unlimted web

Just seems too good to be true!

Yup thats correct :)

its a very nice offer also a rolling 30day contract so no long term tie ins.
Only issue is ofc no handset.

I know a fwe people who have wapped one of these into their iphones

Quite staggering that deal then :)

I've been playing with a few options as both the wife and myself will be shifting to pay monthly, I need a new phone whilst she has looked after hers, any thoughts on a decent phone for web surfing etc? (I'd love the iphone but SIM free is silly money IMO)

BTW, just in case you didn't already know:

This doesn't include a free phone. It's just for the SIM card.

Very good deal if you don't care about having the latest phone, though.

orange offered me the same deal with any new handset (well so they say) for free, only problem is it's for 18 months but imo worth it for a new handset. also get magic numbers which i use far too much to ever switch from orange.

Yup, just looking for a decent phone to use the unlimited internet bolt on with that doesnt cost a bomb...any suggestions?

It is, you only get unlimited texts if you chose the bolt on for it :p

It is 1000 otherwise, which is good enough for anyone I imagine

Is that correct? Dont get me wrong 1000 txt's is still great but not quite as good as unlimited, its a little confusing then as it says 600 mins + unlimited txt's and your tariff includes a free promotional bolt on from (and goes on to list 7 different options whcih you can choose from).

They've already chosen the unlimited texts for you. When you change it to unlimited internet for example, the texts come back down to 1000.

data is unlimited as on your phone! its not 200mb like it use to be, its a FUP that if u use the internet on the phone only and dont affect other users your be fine, 1.6gb is showing on my phone over the last few months!

How much data does O2 class as unlimited?

I'm on Simplicity but chose the 'unlimited O2 to O2 calls' bolt on. I scanned the terms and conditions carefully to see what 'unlimited' meant and there was nothing to suggest that it's anything but as stated. There're a couple of disclaimers about being able to give you advance notice if they change it, but nothing mentioning any caps.

EDIT - I'm very very happy with Simplicity. The amount I'm using would have cost me something like £75/month elsewhere.

orange do the same kinda deals, its 700mins unlimited texts on them atm- £25
Im a bit miffed that im on the 600/unlim with them for £25, I rang them up to say O2 have the exact same for £20, I want that, but they wouldnt and would only up me to the 700min, I said dont bother, Ill cancel within a few months.
Silly really, they should actively pricematch. Bonus with orange is orangewednesdays though for me. Im due a new phone soon though....

Im just about to get this.

Last month I sent so many texts it was silly.

I usually top up £10 get 300 free texts and they used to last the whole month and then when the free texts ended I would just use up what ever credit I had left, then top up £10 again, use the texts and so on.

Got unlimited texts this month though as I had to top up £30 last week. I sent 250 texts over 2 days to one person alone a couple of weeks ago and that basically used up all my free texts.

I topped up on 6th and ive sent 725 texts since then.

So looks like this deal would be much better for me now.

Yea it definately would, I know someone who said they were going to top up £30 a month to get the unlimited texts to keep in touch with people, i suggested looking at a contract instead as its going to be much cheaper.
They went into an O2 shop about simplicity and were told they needed to put down £120 deposit or something though for it.. wtf? madness? Theyd give you a free phone with a higher cost per month but they want you to pay a deposit for something you can cancel whenever you want and dont get a free phone with?

Tell them to do it online. You get £23 back from quidco (so basically your first month is free) And you dont pay any stupid £120 charge.
