O2 simplicity; which contract to go for 1 month rolling or 12 month... +whats quidco?

Hi guys, sorry to bump this but I have a question.

I spoke to o2 about canceling my account today, my 18 month contract is now up and this looks like the perfect thing to jump to.

Now, I'm fairly sure this is typical loyalty crap, but he said as I've been with them 6 years (christ, I can't believe it's been that long!) I'm entitled to some discounts etc.

However, when it came to the simplicity tariff he claimed he could offer more mins than 'a 3rd party like qudico'. I don't think this is correct but I didn't have the call allowance to hand. He also said I could get discount on line rental towards new phones. I asked the obvious about the iphone, and hey guess what 'we can't discount the phone because the price is set by apple'. What about the line rental, they do that right? Same answer.

So it seems 6 years of loyalty has got me nothing? (I don't expect it would, I'm just checking I've not missed something!)

they might offer you more mins at the same price but quidco would work out cheaper. ask them if they can do you that simplicity for £10 which is the equivelent of going through quidco

the 12month simplicity 20(£19.58/month till jan 2010 then £20/month) is 800mins, 1600txts, simplicity 30(£29.38 till jan 2010 then £30/month) is 1600mins, 3200txts.

but as has been said the quidco offer is more about the cost over the 12moths rather then the mins/txts you get(which are the standard o2 mins/txts you'd get even if you didn't go through quidco).

simplicity 20 works out at equivalent of £11-£12/month over the 12month period, while simplicity 30 works out at £21-£22/month so if retention can offer it around that price then it might be better to go with them rather then risk quidco not paying out(various factors may conspire(sp?) to make the quidco thing not work like it should).

Hmmm, useless. I confronted them with all the figures this time and the offered a rubbish 15 quid a month one that's just on the website, or some other 18 month one with 100 quid cash back.

So, pretty much nothing. Will do a few more sums tonight but I guess I'll have to go through the whole faff of cancelling my current account just to get another one >_<
