I've been with O2 for a month now and a few days ago, I asked them to increase my downstream SNR margin to 9 dB (from the default 6 dB) as my line was dropping in the evenings.
Even though I don't have BT's annoying BRAS profiles to contend with, I still prefer a stable connection over a (slightly) faster connection.
I am wondering if it would be possible for my upstream SNR margin to be reset to 6 dB as that has gone up as well
I don't need it to go up as the upstream side of things was fine and the SNRM increase has cost me around 200 Kb of sync speed as I am now only getting around 800 Kb compared to the 1 Mb I had before
Does anyone know if O2 can tweak the downstream and upstream SNR margins seperately or are they both linked i.e. if one goes up, the other one does as well?
p.s. I know that I could ask O2 but I don't want to bother them again as I've not long asked them to increase my SNRM
