I have been using Easynews for some time on O2 broadband without any issues and enjoyed a nice 800kbps. However in this last week I have been trying to connect and do some 'downloading' however I have run into some issues. When I use HTTP it works but not as well as it used to I get about 200/300kbps. When I use NNTP my client gets constantly disconnected and never get above 7kbps! I have always done my downloading between 10pm and 7am.

Are O2 now traffic shaping/throttling?

Just thought that I would mention this, although it could have been a sales pitch, I have phoned another and quite expensive ISP and they had said that they have had about 100 O2 customers call them wanting to leave O2 this year as the bandwidth they are receiving is rubbish. He said that O2 were following the Talk Talk business model of oversaturate your network, loose the heavy users as they can't stand the speed of their connection and be left with lots of light users. As I said it could just have been a sales pitch

Not on LLU though :)
Download 1.2MB/sec, downloaded 1Tb in a month once lol :D

It's possible either way I suppose (what O2 are doing or the sales pitch) - would you name the ISP??

ICUK

I just wish O2 were in my exchange then I wouldn't have this hassle. When I signed up to O2 I talked to the guy on the phone and one of my stipulations was NNTP access but try proving a phone call that took place over 18 months ago. With the non LLU package I'm paying over the odds and just not getting the service I expect, for the service I am getting I could be with Talk Talk and be paying less!

Hi again

I have tried my connection again today and after a week or so of no NNTP traffic my news reader has sprung into life and I now have over 800kbps connection???
