O2 unlocking your iPhone 3GS?

Has anyone here had O2 unlock their 3GS?

I want to get mine done, but apparently I have to be in the UK for it to work not much use to me really ...

What's the exact procedure to getting it done? Has anyone else requested an unlock from abroad and have it work fine?

Your phone needs to be connected to 02 for them to be able to unlock the phone.

Damn wish I knew that before , would have got it unlocked before I left!
