OBD reader for R56 Mini?

A mate of mine has an R56 Mini (2008 1.4) and it's thrown an EML. I'm not too clued up with these OBD readers but shirley it'll be similar to a Bimmer one?

Any ideas? He doesn't mind spending a few pennies as long as it's something good.

Why not a £5 Bluetooth obd dongle and a £10 iOS/android app?

OBD reader will work on any OBD compliant car. Manufacturer specific readers are only needed for airbags, ABS etc.

There's plenty about, have a look on Amazon there are loads with hundreds of reviews.

There used to be one on the minitorque forum that members could get a loan of (for the postage cost) not sure if its still happening as been a few years but maybe worth investigating...
