Obviously posting this in the console section is asking for a biased answer.

Anyway, so far I see it like this.

PC:

Moddable

360:

Gamerscore

Thoughts?

Funny I had this dilema last week, tbh I originally decided on both!
But I was messed about with my PC order (NOT from OcUK) so I cancelled the order, and just brought a 360 last Thursday :)
Only used it for a couple of hours so far but it has made me reconsider the need to spend £700 on a decent PC when I have an adaquate set-up already and the 360 more than satisfies my gaming needs - although I feel I should by a HD-TV now

PC version it is.

My feeble gamerscore weeps even more.

I worry when I mod things to this extent having never played them before... It's as though I'm bastardizing the devs hard work.

It's not really just a moddable vs gamerscore debate, for me it's also down to

sofa + big screen vs desk

Back when Morrowind came out for the xbox I tried it but couldn't get used to using a controller for this style of game so I got it on the PC. Oblivion is a different kettle of fish; it's obvious that console controllers were inlcuded early in the development lifecycle and the graphics and 5.1 sound are superb.

They're really darned easy, they're for going through all the different guilds : Fighters guild, mages guild and dark brotherhood then more for the main quest. They're easy to get but take quite a while. It's the same with the 250 extra for the shivering isles too.

Thanks for the input guys, appears my hand has been forced and for the time being I'm going to have to buy a copy of Burnout Paradise.

Loading times aren't noticeable when you have it running on a decent system. Depending on the graphics card, You can whack the graphics up for more improvements, On top of the visual mods and increased texture sizes that are added.

Then there's the mouse and keyboard control method, That still isn't comparable to the Control pad, Yes I play the 360 version all the time, And I am used to the control method and it's acceptable. But it's just not in the same league as the mouse and keyboard.

Then you have Hotkeys, 1 through 0 give you quick access to any spell or weapon/armour/potion.

You don't get any slow down on the PC version when fighting too many large enemies or enemies using magics. Which you do on the console versions. I'm talking like 6+ enemies and the console suffers.

All in all, PC version is superior. I had better say IMO though now right? :p

The mods really make it:

- Qarl's Texture Pack 3 with LOD and normal map fixs greatly reduce the blurred lifeless textures seen in the near distance.

- BTMod fixes the nasty console-friendly interface and makes managing inventory much easier.

- Leveling fixes, stops the horrible leveling system which levels all the enemies with you.

- No psychic guards, they actually have to see you commit a crime before they chase you

- Loads of other mods to play with.

Plus with a decent system you can run at higher resolutions, more AA and AF.
