Just got oblivion and played through the tutorial and am just starting to begin the quests.

Im now outside and looking for some guy but nearly everytime i get attacked the game crashes to the desktop. :(

It worked fine for the first hour or 2 of the game just enough for me to want to play it and now its doing this  has anyone else had this problem ??? Plz help :(

Just thought i'd add my specs (i know theyre low but they meet the requirements):

Athlon 2800+ barton
1gb of corsair pc 3200
ATI Radeon 9600 tx

Just did it and get the same crash. Its seems its when a lot of movement goes on at once.

Ive looked for patches but there is none i can find :( Gutted looks like ill have to settle for playing it on my mates pc

Any more ideas very welcome ! :D

Are you running overclocked?

Do you have all the latest drivers? Gfx, sound, mobo?

Go into the Oblivion Data folder/music and rename the battle folder to BattleOFF. if this doesn't help just change it back!

yeha i have the processor overclocked but it is stable normally its a 2600+ but i have it running @ 2083mhz instead and its generally about 40-44c.

I have the latest drivers for the gfx card which is not overclocked atm. the mobo is a *whisper* PCCHIPS M848A *cough* iirc will try that file rename in a min hopefully that will work :D

Yeah man.

It just crashed then after making some awful white noise like noises  Is there a know compatibility issue with creative cards or summat???

yes, mainly associated with stuttering and long pauses though, try disabling hardware audio , think it's a case of going into your name documents, my games, Oblivion, Ob config settings and under audio you will see:

bDSoundHWAcceleration=1

change the value to 0, save and see what happens!

I'm not 100% sure that that is it...more 98% ;)

If i do that wouldn't it stop the sound all together??

I've just installed the creative drivers and tried playing it and it crashed randomly :(

Oblivion is a bag of cow dung really. It is causing so many problems for a lot of people! The proof is in that other games run fine and then you put Oblivion on and trouble starts! I wish a game could come out that would be trouble free for 99% of people. I know there are different components in pc's but the game makers know this and should be able to have a good work-around.

Doesn't mean its oblivions fault, its pushing your computer more than pretty much any other game. Which could be the reason why some people have issues. Personally I've not had any problems and am loving a great game :)

It seems to be a lot better now for some reason. The crashes arent as frequent as when i first installed it so i think it must have been something to do with the sound

The only time it crashes now is sometimes when i leave an area it doesnt show the loading screen it just crashes to the desktop :o

Other than that this game is really good but it makes me wish i could buy a new pc  :D

Cheers
