oblivion expansion

Everything I heard from the developers on the forums has suggested they arn't making a true expansion. I bet its simply a mobile phone game or something

If it does come out I just hope it will actually work unlike the micro addons. I'm still ****ed off that I spent £2 for something that won't even install.

I think this has been denied now. But not completely ruled out for the future. :D

Whats been denied? An expansion? About 1 month after the game was released Bethesda announced that they had split their employees into 3 groups, One group was to continue working on Oblivion and the official plugins, another was to start work on TES 5 and the final group were to work on the expansion pack(s?) to TES 4: Oblivion.

They need to make an expansion pack, but it should contain online capabilties.

In fact and expansion pack that does only that would be bought by every owner of the game.

I'd pay a full £30 to play this game OL like NWN's style.

This changed though. A developer and the PR guy have both said seperatly that an expansion is not being made and they are looking into interest. Some people said it was because most Oblivion sales were made on the 360 and something else about DVD space. Also Beth are working on several big games right now.

I wouldn't buy it. Not interested in online RPGs really.

Oblivion is a strictly single player RPG.

I won't buy it, i really tried to like Oblivion but they really destroyed the game trying to make it too mainstream.

If this is true then are Beth becoming like EA? Only in it for the money!? Maybe the expansion was cancelled due to a user created mod? Perhaps the Kvatch Rebuilt or Tamriel Rebuilt team accidently started work on the same project as Beth and in the interests of sales (would you buy something or get an alternative for free) decided to scrap the project.

I was really looking forward to an expansion, shame really.

Exactly what I was trying to say, just better detailed. :(

I'd definately buy an expansion, I haven't got far in the original yet, been derailed by getting F.E.A.R. but I love all the Elder Scrolls series, so they can have some more of my money :D

I looked over the interview (http://www.gamersreports.com/news/3817/ ) and from what I understand, he doesnt outright deny an expansion being made. All Peter Hines says is that one hasnt been announced.

"Right now we have no announced plans for any new content, add-ons, or expansions. If that changes, we’ll let folks know." is just a sneaky way of saying, "We arent going to tell you". The one thing that may concern people about this is that "Dragonfire Castle", the latest reported plugin may have been scrapped (no announced addons).

Someone on the forums sums it up well:
"He only denied there will be an expansion called "Knights of the White Stallion." He chose his words carefully, and the interviewer appears to be a [censored] who asked the wrong question."

I daresay the expansion was pulled for a Christmas release. Oblivons one of the biggest selling games of all time and the Christmas market will be where the big, quick flowing money is.
