I have just bought a 360 over the weekend and I am thinking about getting Oblivion to add to my games. I am halfway through playing Oblivion on the PC and have stopped playing due to my character and tactics being too successful = boring.

Any advice on creating a powerful but interesting character. At the moment I am 100% sneak/ranged archer with 100% summoning skills - too easy. I am looking at something different to my PC character maybe something melee or battle mage?

As it is an RPG, when creating a character a lot of people like to not only think up a class and race, but also some semblance of a back story... what the guy's personality is like, what he would do in xyz situation etc. Other (perhaps you could call them lazy) people like to create an already well known character, but place him in this game... so you might decide you want to play someting like Legolas from LOTR in Oblivion.

Jack Bauer? but then the game would also be too easy ..

Isnt there an option to set the difficulty level higher?
Oblivion isn't really a hard game anyway though, as creatures lvl as you do... unlike Morrowind.

Still a great game though

To be honnest if i were you i wouldn't buy oblivion for your 360 if you already have it for the PC. Good thing about PC version of games like Oblivion is the modding community. You can download loads of mods that will change the creatures so that their lvl is randomised throughout the game. This will make it harder and keep you interested and save you 50quid in the process!

I agree. Obscura's Oblivion Overhaul does a great job of making it harder, and the leveling more interesting.
Also, you have an X1900XTX in your sig which is just perfect for running it. :)

The difficulty setting just makes combat take longer but not really easier. My enemies hardly ever see me or I run very fast and then come back for them or my summoned monsters clean up. I have not tried a melee character - are they fun to play and does it require skill.

I suppose I want to play oblivion on the 360 because I can do it lying down and games just seem to look awesome on my 32" HDTV - my PC CRT is the weak link in my PC system.

Doesn't your PC look good on your TV?

If not, you could always get a Dell 2405fpw/2407wfp, both look good on that :D

EDIT: or the larger one again (3005/3007?) ... though ive never seen one.

The PC is in the study and the HDTV is the bedroom and moving either is not an option. I suppose the next big upgrade will have to be a LCD. I have only seen and played 2 360 games on my HDTV and they are Dead Rising and Saints row and I am amazed at how good they look.
