Oblivion is driving me crazy! I know that I would love this game if I could only just get into it.....

Ok here is my problem.......... I dont know what Im suppose to be doing.

Ive escaped the sewers and then:

  • Got killed by a bandit
  • Got killed by a wolf
  • Got killed by a bandit that looks like a wolf
  • transported myself to Chorol (sp) went in to a house and got locked in
  • got killed by a zombie

Can anyone please just give me some advice as to what I should be doing...........

Sorry :D

lol, are you following your quest log? If not open it and if you've just started it'll be telling you to go to Weynon Priory. Go there and the game should start unfolding.

Haha, this is the best Oblivion thread I've read ever! :D

but seriously though have you tried killing them back? what sort of character do you want to be?

Also you can turn down the difficulty if your finding it too hard.

The whole Oblivion "thing" is that you can do pretty much anything, but it's probably best to stick to some sort of quest to begin with as the world is a bit daunting otherwise :) You shouldn't have a problem with one on one fights straight out of the sewers though.

Yeah as the others have said, follow your quest log and learn about the basics of the game.

Decide on what character you want to be and explore the world doing random quests, guild quests, dungeon exploring and... anything else you want really :)

Thanks for the responses guys!

The main weapon I used in the sewer was the katana that I robbed off some dead captain dude which was then stolen from me with the excuse that it was going to be framed or something, which left me with a torch and a mace....

Anyways Im almost on track now I think! I went and saw the monk dude who told me to go see a fella called martin.

When I got to martins pad there was an oblivion gate so I went in it, I told the guy I met in there to follow me and he promptly died which was spot on because I robbed all his stuff.

Oh and earlier a man told me to catch some fish for him but im going to save that treat for now.

Im getting into it more now! :D

I did a similar thing to you first time I played it and went straight on the main quest but I found it pretty hard. Now I have started the game about 4 more times trying out different types of character (all rounder, tank, mage and now a thief'ish type using a custom class). I havent started the main quest again with all these characters just been doing other things like the guild quest or fighting in the arena. Going to do the main quest when I am a higher level and have found my favorite type of character. But keep going dude its an ace game, will keep you busy for hours.

Im going to adjust the difficulty first chance I get!

Nice advice there guys, after I've got out of this gate Im going to check out some guilds for a bit.

Im still proper confused but Im enjoying playing!

The brotherhood sounds ok, Im off to find someone to kill then, I might wreck the fish dude, fool should have got hes own scales!

"The Fish dude" Quest is quite a useful one, you get a ring that lets you breathe underwater, can help out a lot in dungeon raiding and a few quests.

An underwater ring eh? ok I will leave the fish man alone for now...... :D

Which is the best guild for a player so n00bish that he can only just take down a sewer rat?

Ooo, could do with that ring as there is set of sweet armour underwater that I can't get to without dying. Any idea where he is?

Let my pro self tell you where it is!

Ok,

You know the city where you start? well there is a road that leads form there to the monk dude that you have to see at the begining..... well leave from the main city and take that road.

Once you cross this bridge thing you come to a village called wrye or something like that. The first house you see has the fish man in it! :D

The fish dude is one of the recommended kills to join the brotherhood, but do his quest first. You can also find his life savings in his house once you've offed him :D

Its near the Wawnet inn, in a house called Weye you need to kill 12 slaughter fish.
I normally do the mages guild first so you have access to enchanting items and spell making. Also when you work for the "nice" guilds ie fighters and mages people like you more and it makes some quests a bit easier. I normally do the Dark brotherhood and Thieves guild later when im at a higher level. It also depends on which skills you took as your main ones if you took heavy armour, blade blunt etc the Fighters guild quests involve a lot of fighting (funny that) but say if you have Sneak, security then the thieves guild would be a good start. I spent over 100 hours even before i had done the second main quest mission, so just talk to people see what you can find out, keep an eye on your journal and just explore.
