oblivion: is that it? (level 23)

I got tried of restarting oblivion when i hated the way my leveling ended up and then i tried OOO and it was just too damn slow. So went the easy route and decided to ignore leveling and dled a mod called plus5always.esp. It meant as long as i leveled in one of the skill thingy i got plus 5 on everything and could choose where i went. Granted it made the game easier but i have enough other mods making the game harder so it levels out. Best thing is i can just enjoy the game and not give a hoot about whether i can use a certain skill so i didn't level too early :D

Also the worst thing that can happen is you get addicted to installing mods and before you know it you're adding content faster than you can play through it :p

Oooh and if you want a complete change there is apparently some really good XP point based leveling mods, but you need to start a new game. But it totally changes the dynamics of the game (apparently)

I only ever tried oblivion once, was in a field at night with my horse got off to go for a look around, something invisible attacked me , almost **** myself got on the horse and hauled ass.

what i used to do is when running around keep using the spells. just keep using the heal button when running, even if you dont need too, and as said dont try to grind, just let it flow.

If you have decided you have put in the grind and want some payback then Oblivion is not very rewarding. Even with all your stats maxed and every enchanted item going, you will never be an all powerful mage. If you can afford them there are some great spells you can make. It's just that you never truly have the magika or willpower to use them repeatedly.
You can of course use a bit of poetic licence in your role play if you feel the need. Download TES construction set (free). Create and enchant a piece of jewelery or a weapon etc. Place it into the world (a dungeon or something) and quest for it. You can edit the stats of the item to give you enough enchantments to fire off any spell you care to make up. As long as you don't go over the top, you can via Construction set provide a few bonuses to keep it really entertaining.
You can also use the console to change your stats etc to level without grinding.
You can call it cheating if you like but for me it got a bit tedious having to go through the rigarmorale of beefing up some wimpy character. Cannot you as a prisoner at the start already be a powerful warrior or mage?
I always feel thee is no such thing as cheating in a RPG. You play it how you want to.

I unfortunately deleted (dont ask!) my high level character. I don't think I'll be doing things the hard way to level up again if I choose to play again.........
