Oblivion - need help

I'm trying to complete a quest were I have to have a friend stay alive within an oblivion gate he has only very little health and I've been trying and trying and I cannot seem to kill the last few remaining enemies without him getting in the way and dying. Is there anyway I can give him health? any suggestions?

Sure he's not just passing out? I tend to remember a lot of the NPC's doing that, but they just got back up again about 15 seconds later. Also, wasn't there a spell you could use after you learned it which was a targetable heal? Not sure if you would have bought it though

Otherwise if you have nice sneak, then shoot at distance with a bow, if the sneak is high enough you can perma-pin them with multiple sneak bow attacks.

When he dies the quest dialoge comes up etc. He's definately dead

I don't have any spells to heal others but is it possible?

Can't you make him wait somewhere out of the way?

His dialogue only talks about the gate and sometihng else, I can't command him

is it the elf guy, and if he dies you have to take his ring and give it to his father? You can still complete the quest if he dies, I guess you just get less of a reward for doing it that way. unless it is a totally different quest of course.

I think if you press the wait key (T?) and rest for an hour then your health and npc's health will also restore...however you can't do this if enemies are around.

I think the only thing you could do was to leave the plane and go buy a target heal spell or scroll from nearest city?

Yeah its that quest, it is possible to complete it with him dead but I'm literally at the very end by the stone so it would be better if I could keep him alive. I will give that a go thanks.

yeah definitely try the wait for an hour trick to get his health restored...if it says 'cannot wait while enemies are nearby' then try running back a bit into the level away from the enemies until it lets you rest - hopefully the elf guy will follow you and not go after the baddies.

hehe I remember that quest. He kept getting in the way and I ended up accidentally killing him. I didn't realise I'd had anything to do with his demise until the Dark Brotherhood came to visit me

The Wayward Knight is the quest name featuring Farwil Indarys and his other chump friends of 'The knights of the thorn'.
let him and all his pals get themselves slayed then loot their corpses.
