Oblivion worth it

^^ I am 100% certain to get a CTD in Skyrim after a few minutes play if i do not add the 4gb patch for some reason, once the pacth has been applied i don't get any crashes at all, just lucky i guess.

I bought this when they had on sale at... some point recently, mainly because I find it rather difficult to play games in a series before finishing the prior ones. I'm still not done with the main quest but I've found it rather fun if not a bit dated. It runs terribly though, drops well below 15fps at some points. I'll be moving straight on to skyrim when I'm done with the main quest, I imagine.

IMO, definitely worth a try for £3.74, if only in order to absorb the... ahem, "plot".

Ya. It is pretty badly optimised for modern processors though, I think. I'm pretty badly CPU limited with it, anyway. I imagine I could get it to run better with a bit of tweaking but it doesn't really seem worth the time. I'm only running it on an Athlon x4 @ 3.5ghz though so I doubt you'd have a problem with it if you have more cpu grunt.

If you've never played Skyrim or Oblivion, perhaps it would be best to start with Morrowind? Although you may end up becoming one of those elitists who think every game before or since is utter crap. :p

Play through a fully modded Oblivion, play the Shivering Isle, then download Nehrim and wonder why Oblivion wasn't quite as good as it.

All of it's worthwhile playing though tbh, and not that buggy.

I might have to mod my recently installed Oblivion game then, never completed it when I bought it a couple of years ago and currently playing through the vanilla version.

Thanks for the link above :), with regards to buggyness, I have only had one problem with it and that was my own doing as I went into a cave near the farm and cleaned it out before I should have so had to respawn the bloke so I could kill him and search his body :)

My mate just randomly gifted me this for Xmas as I've been waiting for Skyrim to drop in price, pretty nifty prezzie :)

Was looking at mods, that thread seems way more tech than just copying and pasting in some files, although I just flicked through it
