OK, Oblivion is ace, have just installed the game and fired it up. Am now out of the sewers and outside.

The graphics aren't too jumpy but i don't know if this is the worse it will be.

Basically i have been offered to buy a 256M Asus ATI AX800ProTVD for a good price, but don't know if i need to... I can afford to if i have to, but i would rather not... advice pelase?

It runs "ok" on my X800 XT PE, at 1440x900 (3Ghz P4 @ 3.9Ghz).

You definitely need an X1800/X1900 or 7800/7900 GTX for all the eye candy at high resolutions. But it does look absolutely staggering, it's worth it if you can afford it. :)

30-40 quid tops
:-/

in the MM they seem to be selling for between £50-£60... non GT models are selling for about £40

a quick search on ebay shows that they're also selling for around £60ish... so no, definately not £30-£40 ;)

Even with a 512mb X1800 you still can't wang the detail up to max settings, according to ATI Tray Tools I was getting less than 20fps in most areas.

So is £90 for a 256M Asus ATI AX800ProTVD a good price?

Is that 12 or 16 pipe?

Looks like I may have undervalued my flashed x800pro as I'm selling at that price.

sounds like a downgrade since you would be loosing shader model 3.0 support.

if your getting a card now for AGP your best bet is a 7800 card.
