Hi guys just wondering if the 4870 x2 stock version's can be oced to 3800 on the memory and in the 850 mhz mark on the core?

My Sapphire 4870x2 struggles at that kind of speed on the core (random crashes), but I think upping the memory to 950 (ie 3800) should be fine. I run mine at stock speeds now though, I found I simply had no need to leave this card overclocked.

Does all 4870 x2 have hdmi built in on the board? not through the dvi port?

No, reference designs have 2 DVI ports and an HDMI dongle to attach to them.
It is just as good? does it output true 1080p?

yeah. it will output anything u want it to and is HDCP compatible (i think its HDCP....haha)
What is HDCP? sorry i am a noob to all of this.

im not exactly sure, i know its a feature that blu-ray uses to play on a LCD TV and the card can use this feature, im sure its some security thing to stop people recording the DVD from the output

AFAIK DVI outputs the exact same information as HDMI, but without audio, and also missing the "Below black information" as it's known, but unless you have robot eyes then you wouldn't be able to tell jack diddley difference...
Yes it works just as well. I had mine connected via dongle running 1920x1200, and Blu-rays at 1080p and it was fine. HDCP is High Definition Copyright Protection and is basically a load of BS designed to stop you copying the film, which completely fails to stop the pirates (surprise surprise).

i have a feeling dvi ports will do audio too if required to as the display does not use all the pins

Hmm, maybe they could be modded, but i doubt there will ever be manufacturer support as audio is not part of the Digital Vidio/Visual Interface specification.

I have a Powercolor 4870X2 under water (XSPC FC block) which idles at 33c and loads at 45c. I actually find the performance to degrade if I overclock it!
As I am keen overclocker, I still cannot quite grasp why it runs slower when OCed...might be because I am running an Enermax 620W PSU and it struggles for juice at higher clocks? God knows!
My problem might be unique to my setup though!

Nah, I remember seeing a review of the overclocked Palit 4870X2 and they said the same thing; was actually a bit slower than the reference card.
