OC bundle problem

Hi all,

Got my bundle (the i5 @4ghz) this week and i've just got round to building it today. The mobo is the gigabyte P55 UD5 and the ram is 4gb of corsair XMS3.

All in and it won't boot - will just power up and down on a continuous cycle and never post. I've pulled it out of the case and just got the ram, cpu and gfx card in and it does exactly the same.

I have a Hiper PSU rated at 510w. I note that it doesn't have the ATX 12v bit (2x4 pin) is this necessary to get it to fire up?

The mobo manual says only for intel extreme chips...so I'm guessing not but I can't think what else is required...

Thanks in advance.

James

I take it you have fitted the 4-pin CPU power cable from the PSU into the 8 pin socket?

If not, then that's the problem..

No problem..

One thing mate, I remember people on here saying that it isn't advised to o/c when you only have the 4-pin CPU power cable fitted instead of an 8-pin one.

I suggest you upgrade from that Hiper PSU, as they aren't very good..

You can get a nice Corsair TX650w for £76.99, that PSU would be perfect for your system imo.

should be fine, just clock the cpu at default settings if its at 4ghz, correct me if wrong tho as iv very little experience with the i5's :)
