OCing my 920 D0 2.66 atm and increasing the baseclock to 170 with turbo mode on to get 3.57 Ghz, i have the cpu voltage at 1.3, running at 1.288V and QPI at 1.3 also.

Running Prime 95 atm and hitting 65-68oC, i have read that i should run it for 30mins, then if ok, bump the baseclock up by 5 till it fails, what happens when it fails? i have had the temps go up to 85oC and nothing failed so i pressed stop, is this right to do or should i have left it?

many thanks

What cpu cooler you using? After 2 hours my temps went to 71c so will depend on your case cooling as well, I belive the ocuk bundles are tested to 85-90c so im sure there fine for testing only. would suggest lower vocre of 1.28 just until your temps are sorted 3.6 should be fine at those volts.

EDIT: 85c+ was with the old cooler i belive the new fenrir does sub 80c

megahalems cooler with a 2000rpm antec fan.

atm im using the same settings as above but now with a cpu voltage of 1.175 and a qpi at 1.2, temps are down to 59oC under full load on prime. gonna up the cpu a little more and see what my results are.

my ram frequency has changed, from the OC as i believe, so i have gone into it and changed it back the the default timmings of 8-8-8-24 and the voltage of 1.65v the frequency is 680, am i right in thinking i times this by 3 (tri ram) and i get a total of 2040, so my 1600 ram is now running at 2040 with the OC if this is correct, is it safe and if i OC more, will it go up even more?

im using a asus rampage extreme 2 mobo.

Nope you still just double the RAM speed so your running at 1360Mhz.

Keep upping until you fail and when you do nudge the vcore
