Hi,

i have a AMD FX 8120 8 Core AM3+ that claims to support DDR3 1866 and a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 which also claims to support DDR3 1866, and i have 4x4GB (16gb total) of DDR3 1866... yet the bois refuses to allow me to use anything over 1333, if i try and use 1833 or 1600, i just get an error from the bios on reboot saying that the system has failed to boot because of overclocking, and if i alter the clock and or voltages manually, i get the beeps of death that require a cmos wipe to fix.

anyone any idea as to what settings i need to use to get at least 1600, or if possible, 1866

thank you in advance.

get latest bios soft, and does the board support 1866 not clocked? or only 1866 that is overclocked from 1600/1333. i would try to raise the voltages abit and do it with a single dimm at a time as well as rising the timings, google for what timings people get with your ram to suit you best.

the board and CPU both claim to support 1866 as standard, and over 2000 when OC'ed. the RAM is 1866 and the RAM model number is on the boards recommended list of RAM to use. with everything set as standard on the very latest bios that gigabyte offer, im not getting anything close to 1866.

should i have to be messing about with voltages, clock speeds and timings when this board and cpu should support 1866 out of the box?

tested with individual modules installed, same thing, only offers 1333 and whenever i try and set 1600 or 1866, i just get 2 long beeps, a short beep, then a reboot with a message saying my cmos has been reset because overclocking hasnt worked...

tested with exact timings that are written on the ram modules, with 1, 2 and 4 modules installed, manually set the clock, set the voltage to the rated voltage (1.5v) and the NB voltage to standard, and then to += 0.10v as i have seen recommended around google.
