Hi all, hope you can help. Got my son his first gaming pc which arrived from overclockers yesterday. They were an amazing help in building and we are very happy with it. One thing is though it keeps shutting off? if I press the power it boots up again but after an hour or so it goes off again. We are new to pc gaming so know very little but bit worried as just spent a lot of money! Any advice welcome

Thanks all

I would look at event viewer to see why it's shutting down.

Just type in event viewer in to google and a howto pops up look under system part for critical errors.

If it's a prebuilt...video it shutting off spontaneously and send it back to ocuk for them to sort it out. You've paid for a product to work, after all...and if you screw something up inadvertently, they can blame you and wash their hands off the warranty.

it's difficult to video as its not happening frequently, maybe once an hour. I did look at event viewer and it had logged the shut downs as not expected but gave no reason as to it

download aida64 and run a stability test by stress the cpu, fpu, cache, system memory and gpu (NOT local disks)
any spontaneous reboots should quickly manifest itself

Ps it's not rebooting, it just turns off and only comes back on if button pressed. Not sure that changes anything though

Just did is again and in the system section on event viewer it says the background intelligent transfer service was changed from auto start to demand start.

If I ring tomorrow do they access remotely?

yeah. you'll need to send your computer back to them. you shouldn't need to pay for the postage cost though (IIRC).
and as i said, make sure you get a video of it happening...as with most things that are intermittent, it probably will not happen if the technician only plays around for 5mins before declaring no fault.
at least with a video you have proof of what you say, and would mean that the technician will need to take a closer look
my 2p anyway

Really helpful advice, were so new to this and I'm so grateful there are people on here like you to help. Sincerely grateful

Okay bit of an update, we are finding that the computer runs fine but it's when my son has been playing planet coaster for a while, only seems to do it on this game? Any ideas?
