Hello OCUK peoples!

This will be my first post on this forum, so first of all, Hi!

Now down to business (hehe,) memory issues!

Currently, I'm trying to get a decent, stable overclock setup for my system, the relevant specs are:

i5 760 2.8ghz
4gb (2x2) Corsair DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333MHz) CMV4GX3M2A1333C9
Asus P7P55D-EVO

Now the problem I am getting is, when I OC the CPU in manual mode, I can get a 100% stable OC @ 3.62GHz, 21x CPU mult, @ around 1.19v, never exceeding 50c (still tweaking this down.) However, the memory will only run p95 without errors if the memory freq is set to min (or auto,) at just over 1GHz, at a voltage of 1.5. I ran a test overnight to double check stability. If you select a higher frequency for the memory (just over 1.34GHz,) and run it at 1.5v, you get many problems with windows, and p95 flunks out almost instantly. If you push the voltage up to near 1.6v values, windows stabilises, and it can take 1-3 minutes before p95 flunks out. Raising it to 1.65v usually lasts around 3 minutes tops in p95.

I have tried a number of things to try and stabilize the memory. I have increased the CPU vcore incrementally to around 1.4v, this doesn't seem to help. I've tried various voltages for the IMC between 1.1 and 1.2v (1.21v limit apparently,) to no avail. I increased the memory timing from 9-9-9-24 to 9-9-9-27, which didn't help. also, tried pushing the IMC and PLL voltages round slightly, which didn't do anything.

There are two other OC modes that force the memory to stick to set speeds, D.O.C.P. and X.M.P. One of which I tried, to force the memory to run at 1.33GHz @ 1.5v. Using this mode, and setting the CPU OC to the way it was in manual mode kicks up the error message "Warning, CPU OC has failed," when you restart the system!

So. Either, this memory is just too **** to OC slightly over it's specifications, or I'm missing something pretty fundamental here! I'm pretty sure I've seen a TH article somewhere that's managed to get this exact set of memory to run at 1.6GHz @ 1.65v with absolutely no problems! Ah, here it is http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ddr3-4gb-p55,2462-6.html It's not exactly the same, but pretty similar.

(On reflection, this choice of memory wasn't such a great idea.)

Any suggestions?

Thank ye kindly.

The ram is from the corsair value select range. I would try two things, keeping the voltage at 1.65V

loosen the timings further to 11.11.11.30 and try prime again at 1334MHz.

Change the bus clock frequency from 200 upwards, making sure that your cpu multi is suitable. With the 1066 profile, you should get a % increase in memory speed. This also makes everything else quicker and a change in multi or voltage or both should be made to keep the northbridge etc all working.

It seems that this ram is not very clockable although it should reach its rated value. Try running memtest 4.1 from a boot disk.

Hi, I'll give these suggestions a go as soon as I get a chance, tanks. Nkata, I could be missing something in the AI tweaker settings, but I don't think I can actively set a specific frequency for my memory, it seems to be locked based on the muliplier (21x172bclk)

Hmm
